Two tips I learned from my grandmother (and both great activities for kids): We save all of our cards until the following Christmas and then cut out the pictures on the front and use a hole punch to make gift cards that can be attached with a little piece of ribbon. The other thing we do with them is make tiny boxes out of them (great for gift cards or cash!). There are a few tutorials for them floating around on the web, but I couldn't find any fantastic ones. My grandmother learned from her church group back in the 60s. Maybe I'll have to do up a tute for this on my blog! Leftover Christmas Card Collages |

btoddster, thanks! I have to find this thing immediately. I assume you were suggesting the idea for the home but I also drive a black car and our dash and most of the hard interior surfaces of the vehicle are black and TEXTURED. I don't know how to explain that but like millions of tiny dimples. Impossible to wipe clean!! All the dust just gets stuck in the texturized divets. Wow! I wish I had seen this a couple of months ago! I live in a one bedroom, 440 sq.ft. apartment with my fiance, two and a half year old son and our dog! We have a very similar set up with an Ikea TROMSO loft bed for my fiance and I and my son's bed (the HENSVIK crib, converted to a toddler bed) and a little play area underneath including a play kitchen, toy bench and bookshelf! When I tell people about our set up, they think I'm crazy but it's worked out fantastic for us and leaves us with lots of room! And yes, ours is reinforced! I'm so glad I went with this idea instead of converting our closet. Mom & Son Bunk Beds Ikea Hacker |

I make sure I hide presents out of reach! I am currently making use of the top shelves of both my bedroom closet and the front hall closet (all in a variety of opaque plastic and canvas bags so cannot be seen). No way that even with his stool, would my son be able to reach up there! Where Do You Hide Your Holiday Presents? Reader Survey |
