Changing Rooms was the best. I could not bear to watch the mess making on Trading Spaces. At least on Changing Rooms anything was an improvement using sticks from the garage, scraps of cloth dyed in the washer and 14 paint colors mixed together. Trading Spaces: Where Are They Now? |

When I was growing up my parents kept all the medicine in the spice cabinet. To this day when I cook I always wish there was a valium hiding behind the cinnamon. Fresh Start: Medicine Cabinet Clean-out |

I have a crockpot full of New Orleans red beans cooking with lots of sausage. All I have to do is get some French bread and cook some rice later. What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of October 9-10, 2010 |

Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad and garlic bread would be number 1 followed by tacos with all the fixings and refried beans. Either meal takes less than 30 minutes. You can count on that every week at my house and we never get tired of it. For those nights when I am too lazy to boil water or turn on the oven - tuna out of the can with crackers and sharp cheddar OR grilled cheese sandwiches. No-Brainer: What Are Your Standby Meals? |

Check out a Kringloops - the Dutch version of Goodwill. Timing is everything - I have found some really cool things at some of them for next to nothing. You could attach lightweight yardage to your walls with the blue gummy sticky stuff. There are lots of drapery fabric stores and they are always having sales. Or have graphics printed off poster size at a print shop. Those Lack tables always seem squatty and rather useless. Stack them maybe and use them for plants or books. These are a few ideas from your neighbor in The Hague. I would have to improve the wall color and lighting in some way. It is easy to say oh get out and explore but it is your nest, it does rain a lot on a good day and winter is on its way AND you need a place to LIVE. Good luck and enjoy your assignment. Personally I come here to look at great photos of people's homes. I just think sometimes the staging becomes repetitive as with Keep Calm (which I own) and the bowl of green apples and it is fun to joke about it. I am absolutely guilty of staging my own home but God it looks like hell sometimes. I found myself using the word CURATED recently and had to laugh at my own pretentiousness. So lighten up - I kind of live here and love Apt Therapy. No ill intent from me. Stylist Tricks You Can Use In Your Home |
