You definitely should check Watertown if you want easy parking...not impossible in JP or Somerville (including Inman Square--on the Camb/Somerville line). I think Watertown is undervalued. If you are working in town, the express buses take about 15-20 min. It is also convenient to Cambridge and the red line. When choosing a location though, think about where you are going the most. You'll get the most space/amenities for your $ and quick exit. You are on the pike, and numerous bus lines. You'd want a car or bike for late nights and the weekends though.

Don't write off Chelsea completely. There are amazing spaces in Chelsea and it is very close to the city. But, if you have kids, or consider having kids, stay away.

Parts of Allston are not too bad. Lower Allston has lots of families, profs and young professionals. Just stay away from the B and C lines and Comm Ave. The affordable parts of Brookline are too BU for my taste.

Lastly, public transport can be a beast. Think about where you need to go when choosing your apartment. The T is a spider, so when you are in the outskirts, make sure there are numerous bus options. Otherwise, you are heading into town to get anywhere.

Leave as is and lean a mirror above it. You are very lucky to have such an unoffensive fireplace. I'd leave the wall color too. Cream will not look so nice with the fireplace.

Don't add a string of unrelated words so the posting comes up in lots of searches.

Don't list your whole apartment in one listing, or add a huge list of other items you have to sell without pictures.

I tend to look at issues such as this from an environmental and business perspective. I also recently finished a thesis on mass retailers logistics practices. From these perspectives, Ikea and Walmart shine! Walmart's scorecard (when implemented) should be a practice adopted industry-wide.

I do prefer to wait for the most perfect piece, but at this point in time, when I need a place to eat dinner or a shelf to hold my sundries, I go to Ikea. In my area, when that item is replaced, and I put my interim furniture on the sidewalk, it is claimed in minutes. I suspect that unless you can afford to buy from a LOCAL craftsmen, then your environmental impact is far better from a mass retailer then taking delivery from the private freight carrier used by Crate and Barrel...and the furniture is only slightly better.

I understand it is reusable...but each time you fill it, you are emptying another vessel. With a reusable water bottle, you are likely filling it from the faucet, bubbler, filter pitcher etc.

I've owned this for a few years and was able to get it at a steep discount. With that said, the ikea version cannot compare. This version is very well executed and only better in person. I would purchase it at full price again. Of course, you have to enjoy this type of whimsy!
