I use baskets above my kitchen cabinets for out of season kitchen items and over flow baking goods, and it took me over a year to figure out that a DISHTOWEL placed over the goods in the basket would keep away all the dust and grease.

Now when the towel gets a bit grimy I swap it out for a fresh towel and throw the old one in the laundry.

This means I don't always have to rinse off the items before I use them, and the basket bottoms stay cleaner.

I always tell people, it's lazy among us who are the most organized. We just don't want to have to do the work to find stuff.

I do this too. The boys drink much more water, and I think they feel much more important as well since their glass sits on a table now - not the floor. And no one seems to play in my water glass any more.

Sorry, everyone. I didn't mean to be so emphatic by posting twice. Though I really do believe that sheets are underwear for your bed. ;)

I cannot agree with number two enough!

I spent Memorial Day weekend (all three days) C L E A N I N G my apartment.

No humble brag here: laundry, washed and swapped bed linens, installed air conditioners, scrubbed litter boxes, washed the tops of the kitchen cabinets, vacuumed the closets, moved the sofa to clean behind it, vacuumed and tightened the cat trees, vacuumed and mopped all floors, and (best of all) have three blue IKEA bags to bring to Goodwill.

And I am now in love, all over again, with my apartment. Every time I think I hate my home, it usually just means it needs thorough cleaning.

I work directly next to these buildings. Etsy may only move in if they promise to shovel the sidewalks as well as the previous tenants did.

I'd love my apartment to have a "garage." Not for my car, but for all the stuff that doesn't store well in already dedicated spaces. Extra cat food and litter, Christmas decorations, seasonal cookware, my bike, tools and gardening supplies, etc.

If the room was truly big enough, perhaps a daybed and small dresser for guests, but really its the miscellaneous long term stuff that needs a home.

Of course it MAY cause damage, but that is why I recommended asking a vet to show proper technique and offer instructions, which could include water or food follow up.

If all else fails, ask your vet to show you how to "pill" your cat. You can "force" them to take the pill, and, if done properly, does not harm the animal.

When one of my boys was on pain meds and antibiotics, I got good enough to do it it seconds. He'd be grumpy for a minute then forget it ever happened.
