This house looks not only lovely and well-appointed, but supremely comfortable as well. This is the kind of place I like to see on Apartment Therapy.

It's all a matter of taste, of course, to each his own, etc., etc. But all of these look stuffy and oppressive to me, very far from "cheery" and "summertime", which I would equate with "space" and "breeziness". Chintz wallpaper is very far from giving off that vibe as far as I'm concerned.

That teepee room is amazing!! How wonderful to sleep there! I'm stealing this idea for my dream cottage!

The ashtray pedestal has happily gone bye-bye. I have a couple that I use as plant-stands.

I would say paint the wall a pale version of cream or gray, and put the colour on the ceiling. That's what I've done in both my bedroom and dining room, and it really works. The ceiling adds just a subtle touch of colour, while leaving the walls chromatically free to play nice with the furniture.

What do you mean, meh? This is exactly what I want for my daughter's room.

I live directly accross the street from a sllightly touched (ok, more than just slightly) antiques-dealer who doesn't want to sell his antiques and tells anyone who wants to listen that he's got a Monet for sale. Since he doesn't actually sell any of his antiques, he repairs bicycles for a living. Right in front of our house. In ratty old clothes and unwashed hair. And he has LOTS of customers. Guess he must be good at it.

Does this qualify for "craziest house on the block"?

Really like the desk -- I have a thing for drawers. Like the coffee table too, as something to populate my alternate universe. The rest, eeeang, not so much.

I'm in the process of doing just this, planning for the replacement of our aging fence and gate. The possibilities are endless! But our pursestrings are not. Option no. 1 is just about as fancy as we can afford at the moment. But option no. 4 and 5 would be lovely.
