My mom made that cake and it was amazing! The combo and the salt of the nuts and caramel with the chocolate was so good. My dad is not a dessert person and even less a chocolate person and he had 2 pieces.

I love it and want to see more! Any more pics on flickr or elsewhere? I'd love to see more of the bedroom and kitchen details. May I ask what cabinets and countertops you used?

I bought the West Elm striped sheets and they're a little abrasive. They look good, but the feel/quality isn't so great.

Living etc and Elle Decor UK are my favorites. I subscribed to Living etc for a year, but it was just too expensive and I couldn't justify renewing. Now I just buy it occasionally at the bookstore.
I really miss Domino. It did such a great job of covering so many different design styles and price points. I still have all the past issues and was flipping through them last weekend looking for kitchen inspiration. There really is nothing like Domino on the market now.

buhbis - it's actually charcoal gray and cream and not really a zebra pattern. It's by Angela Adams and the style is Mammy. It's no longer available on her site. I got it years ago and I think it not a style/color she makes anymore in wool. I found one (on sale) on this site below, but I'm not familiar with them.

Let me clarify... nothing has changed with the fireplace, but a lot has changed with the rest of the place. Like the removal of popcorn ceilings, some velvet flocked 70s wallpaper and an intercom system in every room (some units were only 10 ft away from each other -- much easier to just yell).

Is anyone here familar with Gus Modern furniture?? No retailers in my area carry it and I'm curious about the quality of the Thomspon dining chair. Anyone have anything to say for/against them? I'm looking for a chair to pair with a Bludot strut table in ivory if you have any other recommendations.

I think your place looks fab! Both warm and full of style. I love your use of pops of color without it being overwhelming and/or juvenile. And I'm bored with the "looks like a dwr catalogue" critique that so often appears here.
