Well Jeremy, for years we pondered whether to get a live tree, cut tree or an artificial tree. We could never decide which option was the most responsible for our family and the environment. Live trees don’t have a great survival rate and you can only keep them inside for 1 week. Cut evergreen trees aren’t a great option, because you use the tree just once and the farming practices might not be sustainable. Regular artificial trees can be re-used, but we were concerned about the chemicals used to make them and off-gassing. We couldn’t find a low-VOC artificial tree on the market. Our plywood tree shouldn’t off-gas much and should survive to be re-used year after year. In our book, that makes it eco-friendly.
