I did just what amarie suggested--put up little strips of wood, and laid shelves over it. The 1x2s i got from Home Depot for about $1.50, and the shelves were 10/$1 at Ikea in the as-is section. Just cut everything down to size and paint the wood strips the same color as the wall--super cheap, and look great as built-ins! Help Me Achieve Floating Shelves in This Nook? Good Questions |

I saw this post about a half hour ago--just grabbed an extra curtain rod and brackets, and rehung all my scarves on an empty spot on the wall next to my closet. Easy access to all my scarves, and added bonus of being wall decoration at the same time. Thanks for the suggestion! Before & After: Streamlining Scarf Storage |

I have a tiny, tiny kitchen, with approximately one foot of counter space on either side of the sink. I'm also short, so on top of the fridge wasn't really an option for me. I am lucky enough to have a pantry, so the microwave is in there--works great, no counter space taken, and no eyesore. 6 Smart Alternate Locations for the Microwave |

I've had this set up for the past couple of months, and I love it! I have an old, cushy Louis XVI armchair, and usually am wrapped up in a blanket with my legs crossed--couldn't think of a better way to work :) Cozy at the Computer: Using Armchairs as Desk Chairs |

We're all being seriously robbed by grocery stores selling 3-4 pods for like $8. I went onto ebay, bought a whole pound of pods for about $22. I made enough vanilla to last me about 10 years, some for my friends too, and still have about a quarter pound left over. Making the Most of Vanilla Beans: Have You Tried This Tip? |

I would get rid of that cart--its really cluttered, and just not pretty. It also makes the whole area look smaller, because you're essentially blocking the entry way with all that clutter. Take off the wall hooks near the light switches too, and just leave the lamp for a clean look to that corner. Solution For Awkward Entryway? Good Questions |

I love the bed! I think that to keep with the style of the bed and the color of the walls, you need some gold and/or bronze accents to really pull it all together--my parents have a very similar bed, and they have mustard colored walls and a dark gold duvet, with a dark green floral trim (taken from 2 separate duvet covers and store bought curtains). The curtains are a dark green floral, but each panel is actually 1.5 panels, sewn together for a fuller look. For opulence, gold is really the way to go, with some end tables and lamps with a rust/bronze shade. How To Style A Grandiose Bed? Good Question |

I'd move the highbacked chair, and put it an an angle by the sideboard--serves as an end table, and also helps showcase it. If you really need to keep the sofa, push it against the wall with the window, and get rid of the shutters. Push the leather loveseat to the opposit wall. This will open up the room to the dining room (better for entertaining with larger parties too), and make room for a rug and coffee table. Definitely agree you need something to tie the sideboard to the rest of the room. Also, consider color! Rug & Ottoman or Table to Help Tie Room Together? Good Questions |
