Love these - I often feel that there are these superpeople of organizing out there, who can do everything in record time and just know what has to be done to properly organize. Thank you for reminding us that organization is a journey, rather than a final destination.

Husband & I live in an apartment with our medium sized mix-breed, and I just want to say thanks to AT for the article. Unfortunately, I have previously run into people online who must've had some unpleasant experiences & seem to believe that if you live in an apartment, you should not make a dog "suffer" through living without a yard.

However, like most of the above commenters, we take our dog for long, long walks, play with her tons, and get her out a lot, and she's happy as a clam...and so am I! I really couldn't do without her love & companionship. Thank you for supporting the apartment-dwelling pet-lovers. :)

I hope others do not find this disrespectful, but, really, I like to talk and do chores simultaneously and find no problem listening to the other person and completing my tasks. As someone who lives alone in a city with no friends or family anymore, it is a real lifesaver for me. I like having a friend there with you while you do your chores - just like having a friend over to help move or paint or whatever is energizing and makes it more enjoyable.

Due to work, my s.o. sometimes is gone for a LONG time (think a year or more) in one go; even so, I find I live differently the whole time - I clean so much more. I organize everything. However, I move furniture and items so that it works with my life and habits, rather than his. It's a little weird.

By the way, do not attempt this with regular cardboard boxes. I have no idea how the IKEA kind works out, but my (admittedly cheaper) version fell over within a week.

I'm going to promote the City Museum, as well, in St. Louis. Don't forget that a lot of the stuff in Forest Park is *free!* - like the zoo, history museum, and art museum, unless you want to go to a special exhibit.

And also, I'm going to be yet another person asking - where is Wisconsin? Minnesota? Are these in some previously unknown region that are not in the Midwest?

How about Döner Kebap? They always remind me of when I lived in Germany. If anyone had a great recipe, I'd be awfully grateful for it. My attempts never seem to turn out quite right.

These certainly make me wish I were living out in the wilderness somewhere, instead of a large metro area, so I could find a few more inspiring natural elements & do something like this in my yard...

As a bit of a departure from the rest of the comments, I actually planted mint today hoping it'll take over the intensely ugly eye-sore of a dirt-patch that is my back yard. Mint is so lovely, and smells so nice - I'm really hoping it goes crazy, like my lemon balm did!

But I can certainly understand that most people do not have a medium-sized blank canvas which they would *like* to cover with mint.

Question - do chive flowers taste the same as the rest of the chive that we eat? I'm growing some right now & am interested in the answer.

@Minchee, Jaimie, Meirad & All Others Who Love German Windows -

I agree wholeheartedly. I cannot tell you the number of times here that I wish for a good "gekippt" German window with shutters to let in the breeze while I sleep. American windows are simply not the same.

I suppose I wouldn't know whether it is a *truly* low-maintenance plant, or just my experience with it, but I have to say that back in 2004, I was given a tiny sprig of jade. I planted it, occasionally water it, and repotted it once or twice and the thing is huge now. I do practically nothing to it and it thrives like the dickens.

When I was maybe eleven, I discovered that water properly mixed with corn-starch looks (vaguely) like milk and decided to serve it to my younger sister with her dinner. It was apparently convincing enough for her to drink it, but wasn't funny enough for my mother not to punish me.

Absolutely! My husband and I joke that our dog's first words (to herself) in the morning must be, "I'm so happy you exist!" repeated continually for about ten minutes. This is during the time she waggles her whole body and wants to snuggle at the same time.

As a fellow Wisconsinite I have to say I'm so glad to see chili with pasta as a legitimate recipe! When I moved away from it, people would often dismiss the idea as somewhat odd, (apparently real chili doesn't have noodles...) but - I have to say this to any potential skeptics: It's tasty! Give it a try! :)
