super, super darling!

Not a Star Wars fan but now I want a Death Star watermelon. Seriously, it's fabulous!

We do this each year, including lots of books about winter and Herschel and the Hanukkah Goblins just because it's fun.

If you're looking for a new holiday book, there's a great story called, "Calico the Wonder Horse or The Saga of Stewy Stinker" by Virginia Burton of Mike Mulligan fame. It's a favorite around here, and an unusual choice for Christmas.

I'm going to try this in a larger saucepan with a lid--plenty of room, keeps everything inside...it should work, right?

I love that Lands End sells backpacks and messenger bags by height, and they explain what each bag can hold. My preschooler has a Skip Hop backpack--it doesn't carry much, but it's a perfect size, and the bee is pretty darn adorable.

I own a beautiful leather sleeper sofa that my guests hate. My mom stays with us for weeks at a time, so we bought a new sleeper for her--I found one at LaZ Boy that fit the bill. We upgraded to the premium coil/air mattress--my mom loves it and even with upgraded upholstery it was less than 1400.00 (for the smaller apartment-sized model--the larger size would be closer to 1600.00).
Certainly more than I wanted to spend given my collection of empty beds (guest room and sleeper, and aerobeds) but a good choice for my mom who can't get up and down my stairs with ease and who has logged 3 months on it since last October.

We have the svan and love it--we used the infant ring until Astrid was ready to take her meals at the table, and now (she is 4) she's still using it as seating. The footrest really helps with proper positioning--good at meal time, and during fine-motor activities. The svan also has a decent resale value, should we choose to part with it in a year or so.

It was a splurge, but worth every penny--it's gotten daily use for almost 4 years.

I've loved Galt for such a long time. It's nice to see Galt keep pace with the current market demand. The product line looks vastly different than the one I encountered in the late 90s, but it's all still beautifully made.

we begin the holiday season by decorating the dollhouse. We use a blanket of 'snow' to cover the table, add some snow-covered trees, some icicles and real christmas lights on the eaves. The interior is a little more chaotic, but very festive too. Right now, playmobil Santa is in the bathtub, there's a Christmas tree in the kitchen, and the dollhouse kids are hanging out in Santa's sleigh on the roof. It's very merry around that house.
