The battle between cleanliness and fun is a constant battle in our house -- I'm working on letting it go so I can enjoy the times rather than dread them because I can't get to the countertops.

Maybe I just need that rug -- I LOVE IT! Can we get more info?

I second "Liam and Ollie's Mommy." We also received the older version of the baby bjorn bouncer as a gift for our first baby ($90ish). As an infant our first spent lots of time in the bouncer but our second didn't seem to like it as well. I had considered getting rid of it now that both kids are over 1 year old, but I pulled it out and removed the harness and now they fight over who is going to sit in it daily. One of the best used baby/kid items for the value -- hands down.

Yes! A totally beautiful mistake. I must know about that rug it is exactly what I've been looking for.

Also: the pumpkins are cool too. I think I'll have my 3 year old give it a try this year.

We have wire shelving in our office and while I was searching for them I recall seeing various available accessories one of which included an enclosure of some sort that had sliding doors. (Something like this.)

I didn't end up purchasing the enclosure nor have I ever seen them in person so I cant vouch for the durability especially in the hands of a toddler but in theory it would conceal what you don't want your baby to get into. You could then also add a babyproofing "lock" (like they use for sliding doors, like this) to keep him from being able to slide the doors open.

Alternatively you could try baskets or boxes with lids that somehow attach/lock.

We installed the KidCo Adhesive Mounts on our Hemnes because they are not visible from the front and they can be turned "off" when desired. The latches were a little more intensive to install because the Hemnes drawer fronts set flush with the dresser frame which required that the locks be set back and built up (we just used a piece of cardboard) but once we figured it all out and did the first one the rest were a piece of cake. We are really happy with the locks and how they don't alter the clean look of the dresser. Now we just need to secure the entire thing to the wall . . .
