I have America's Test Kitchen's Slow Cooker Beef Stew in my crock pot today, and I just pulled out a batch of cranberry apple pumpkin muffins from my oven. Tomorrow may just be time for more pumpkin spice granola... we'll see!

We also use FaceTime all of the time! That's how my daughter knows who her grandparents are. I love being able to use my laptop to call their phones or vice versa. Also, my husband travels almost weekly for work, and we're very thankful for FaceTime. It's more convenient than Skype (which is what I used to use when I was in college and dating a guy overseas).

We keep an organized fridge, but last week when we were down to the bare minimum with food before our next CSA box arrived, I decided to take the opportunity to 'quickly' clean the surfaces. It took me an hour to wipe everything down, remove the drawers to wash in the sink, dry everything, and re-install 2 shelves. I didn't even get to the doors of the fridge... or the freezer... and definitely not UNDER the fridge... before losing steam. That was with an almost empty fridge that stays fairly clean! It does feel good to have it all really clean, though.

I can attest that cornstarch makes a great glue. I actually used it for gluing paper to wooden decorative birdhouses shortly after moving into a new house with our newborn. I didn't know where our glue was, and it seemed to be too much effort to run out with an infant to buy glue for a quick project.

Anyhow, that was 2+ years ago. The glue is still holding the paper on perfectly and smoothly, which is not something PB or cream cheese would do.

LIZZYKEWL, I completely agree.

At first, I was semi-interested to read what others find annoying, but as I read 10 or 20, I realized that no one's taste is going to fit everyone else's. What annoys one person is exactly what another person is drawn to.

I made this a couple of days ago, and I really like the flavor but the texture isn't creamy/smooth enough for me (chocolate bits aside). It was not quite icy but definitely not creamy. It's frozen yogurt-like, I suppose. I used all 1/2 & 1/2 and heated to 172.
Anyway, I'll definitely use the mint/cream steeping technique in the future but switch over to another ice cream base that likely includes heavy cream (and therefore more fat, of course). Thanks!

We're in the market for a bigger bed, so our full that's identical to #2 will be headed to the basement soon.

We still do the pickle ornament, and I come from German roots. No idea about the origin, though.

Strange how similar my daughter's room is to this. Same color birds, same type of bird silhouettes, white tree. The main difference is her room is predominantly light turquoise with accents of gray. http://wonderfuljoyahead.blogspot.com/2011/08/les-room-tour.html

I like that it's light weight so I didn't have to find a stud or put a larger hole in the wall for an anchor.

They have that same one at World Market for $40 and a smaller version for $30.

I bought a similar one from there close to Mother's Day when they had a promo. You can see part of it in

I love my Le Creuset, personally. If I were to get another one, I'd give Tramontina a shot. It's America's Test Kitchen's "best buy" recommendation, and it's only $45 for their 6.5 qt size.

I've seen this repinned on Pinterest over and over again, but will it actually work? I mean, I can see how it'd stay up, but will those plastic lips weaken? How realistic or easy will it be to remove heavy boxes? Sure this would be easy for empty or near empty boxes.
Anyone think it actually would work out?

Penzeys spices- my parents gave me a giftbox of assorted spices from them. I thought the selection was strange, so I took some back to the store, only to find out that they could tell by the packaging that some of the spices were a few years old (and no longer good). My parents put some of the spices they've had on hand in the box instead of buying new spices. Penzeys still exchanged them for fresh spices even though it was completely my parents' fault.

@LittleMissy, glad you had good experiences with PB, because that has not been my experience at all.

Just yesterday I was thinking about how it can't be hard to make your own sandbox. I imagine it's pretty similar to the raised gardens we just built. Great timing!

Yes, this is a gorgeous room-- but wow! Quite the budget!! For example, those birdhouses above the bed are $150-$200 each.

One of my dear friends takes vintage surfboards, paints beautiful and unique commissioned designs on them, and then partners with World Vision to give 10% of her profits for clean water. It's such a great idea to use the boards that would otherwise go unused-- and it's such a different medium.
