How wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to sketch up the room. I never thought about opening the pathway straight from the door and making things tighter near the french doors. How To Furnish Small Living Room with Lack of Usable Wall Space? Good Questions |

Thank you all again! I spent more time cleaning up the house today in preparation for moving in and the space is pretty small. I unfortunately don't think it would work to turn a sofa either with the back to the door or the kitchen without taking up almost all of the sitting space. I do plan to trace out some different furniture sizes with tape on the floor ASAP. How To Furnish Small Living Room with Lack of Usable Wall Space? Good Questions |

Thank you for the detailed comments! I believe the pictures were taken with a wide-angle lens for the home sale, so they actually make the room feel larger than it is. My sketch isn't perfectly to scale except that the space is 14' x 14' and the furniture sizes reflect a few pieces I like at Crate and Barrel (eg. the Margo loveseat). I agree completely that people will walk right through the middle of the room unless there is an easy, natural path in an alternative direction. How To Furnish Small Living Room with Lack of Usable Wall Space? Good Questions |

Our neighbors actually have the same house but enter through the small room off to the side. They hate that layout because they lose a family room, but I think the benefit of having a full wall to put furniture against in the living room is worth it. Thank you! The piece next to the door is actually a radiator cover that they built out into a bookshelf. The long-term plan is to get rid of the cover and add a low-profile radiator, which would add 1' of space in the room. How To Furnish Small Living Room with Lack of Usable Wall Space? We just moved my daughter to a new school where we now have to send her lunch from home. While the bulk of her meal is not pre-packaged foods, adding an individual-size apple sauce or cheese stick or yogurt makes throwing a balanced lunch together in the morning a snap. I like homemade, but it's not Thanksgiving without the canned cranberries. The funny thing is, my husband's Midwestern family who use 'cream of X' soup and Cool Whip regularly are strongly opposed to the canned cranberries. I've been known to sneak a can into their Thanksgiving celebrations on occasion. What's Your Pick? Homemade vs. Canned Cranberry Sauce |

We rented a home with an Aga that had 4 small ovens. There was no way you would ever be able to roast a turkey or even bake a large casserole in any of the compartments. I don't understand the appeal! Aga Appliances: Classic Cast Iron Store Profile |

At home we have a CO2 tank which we use to carbonate at least a liter of water daily. Much cheaper and more environmentally friendly than buying carbonated water, and lasts a lot longer without refills than the Soda Club and equivalent machines. You do need somewhere to stash the unattractive tank though. Free Fizz: France's Fancy Water Fountain |

I'd just want to make sure there's enough air flow under the grass that the water dries, and doesn't just collect there and let mold grow. Boon's Grass Countertop Drying Rack | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

Yet another owner of a Gulliver who gives it extremely high marks. We had the crib at the high position until our daughter was about 8 months and now she's 11 months and we've dropped the mattress. She's a petite baby, but I haven't experienced any back problems from lowering her onto the mattress - and my back has been a wreck since pregnancy and delivery. I'm short at 5'2" so I just have to make sure that the top of the crib is at or above my hip bones and I basically fold over and lay her gently on the mattress. Is that the Ikea Gulliver crib? I bought a crib skirt for ours and it seemed like it wouldn't work (couldn't get it between the bottom platform and the crib sides). Maybe I was doing something wrong! Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Follow-Up: Kristen's Homemade Nursery Bedding |
