@schwyzerin: TV shame is actually one of my biggest pet peeves.

Love your style. Just curious, what's the plan you mention for the kitchen counter and back splash? The worst part of my rental is the counter top and I'm always looking for ideas to make it more livable.

This is such a fun space! Esp. love the poodles--collectibles and real. Two questions: where is the ceramic hanging planter from and how do you keep your kitties from devouring all the gorgeous plants? My cats consider plants an all you can eat salad bar.

I just bought a Matte Stephens print (Owl and Pigeon Party) a few weeks ago! It's a fabulous piece and makes me smile every time I look at it. Reminds me, I need to leave him feedback on Etsy.

@babyfishmouth: I often do the same thing in my head as I'm falling asleep after reading design mags and blogs in the evening. I told my partner this the other night and he looked at me like I was crazy. Glad to see I'm not the only one!

@Blandwagon, SOOOO cracking up. I wondered what it was too. Great mix! Love the rug by the bed and had no clue about the NB collection for HSN--headed to check that out next. I have the same Blu Dot chairs around my Noguchi Cyclone table. Where are the blue and red throw pillows on the couch from?

1700 sq. ft. for one person? Professionally designed? And the crowd goes wild! This isn't the A.T. I used to love. I guess you change to keep up with a changing readership. But I think it's telling that a designer project is lauded as having "personality" and as "masculine" despite being designed by a woman. Yet Mike's house tour from last week was panned if not entirely dismissed despite being original, DIY and designed by a guy for himself.

Awesome space! I love that it feels authentically masculine rather than what art directors and editors try to sell us as masculine.

My partner grew up in a home with twelve cats. When they had company, they would rotate the cats. They'd stash eight or nine in a room, leave a few out, then switch cats so it never looked like they had more then three or four cats. When they were selling their house, it was his job to frantically gather up as many cats as he could find before showings, toss them in his car and drive down the block where he would park with his seat reclined just enough that he could watch and see when the realtor left and it was safe to take the cats back home.

This raises another question...how often do you guys change the towel you use? I used to re-use the same one three or four times (probably more sometimes without thinking), but after a recent and nasty bought with staph my dermatologist told me I needed to use a new towel/washcloth for each shower. This has translated to many more quarters for the washing machine.

Wow. I have way too many. I never even realized it. But I still seem to run out before I make it to the laundry room. I've got twelve sets of really comfy Ralph Lauren that much the current bath decor. Several sets from past looks. And probably ten ratty gym towels. Now that you mention it, they do take up a lot of shelf space. But I don't think I could ever win this one with my partner.

d4kk1tt3n, there was a kid in my elementary school who always sat to pee. He was tortured mercilessly for it. I hope your son is faring better. It might be cheaper to pay for a housekeeper then to pay for his future therapy and your divorce.

I agree, the faux bois looks awesome. Looks great in your space. Personally, I see and love the difference. It's cleaner look.

jamie_sue, I think the tab design has changed quite a bit. I've had my tiles for a couple of years now and haven't had any problems. The tabs sit sticky side up and attach corner to corner. I haven't noticed any seepage and the floor beneath them was perfectly clean after my last move. And they don't shift underfoot at all.

The biggest benefit for me was I was able to fully cover an irregular sized space with the tiles. A standard sized rug would have been awkward in the space. And when I moved to another home with another awkward space, I was able to reuse the tiles in a different design and spread the tiles over two rooms. In both homes, the tiles look like they were custom designed for the space.
