I tend to follow Alton Brown's concept of everything having to multi-task. Unfortunately, my husband does not.

We bought a convertible crib that goes to toddler then full. Our older son went straight from the crib to a twin when we had our youngest. The youngest used it as both a crib and a toddler bed before switching to a twin himself last month. He switched more for comfort than size - a standard twin mattress is way more comfortable than a crib mattress and his sleep has (thankfully) improved dramatically.

I don't know if one of them will ultimately use the full option in their room as they get older, but I had always planned that it could serve as a guest bed if the boys didn't want it. I think that is a good point to consider - if your children don't want/can't to use its multiple configurations, can it be used in another room afterwards?

Where did you find the wax paper bags? They're a wonderful choice.
