Maxwell, I really love that you all "want to stretch the boundaries of how we cover the life of our home". That is an exciting thought and as a daily visitor I look forward to seeing how you all expand and spice it up!

I think the type of reader who comes to AT is not opposed to designing or even thinking outside of the box.. It goes without saying at this point that this is not the way, but I applaud you all for challenging yourself.

I was just watching a cooking show where an acclaimed Michelin starred chef removed the most popular dish from his menu after several years of booming success to encourage folks to try something new and to challenge himself- that is exciting, but the key is that what comes needs to be PHENOMENAL. This was not, but I trust that you all will get it.

Love the site and will continue to support!

for those concerned about covering up the books- look at the pics-most book shelves are not fully covered it adds length and elegance in the right space.

Great solution for small spaces! This is what we are doing at the moment.

In reality this has been pain in the butt for me. It gets me completely off track to have to store things and then reassemble them in a way that works for me to easily pick up where I left off the next day. I prefer to leave things "in working order" so I can get back into a flow without orchestrating a whole reorganization.... so we are sacrificing some space to make a little cove of an office instead. But again, good idea if there is no alternative.

Great post and right on time. We are creating an office cove in our living room right now and our huge printer/scanner has been messing up my design flow. Love AT!

None of these are elevated...in order to avoid rodents setting up camp, whether indoors or out, stacks should always be elevated. A few bricks and a slab of wood can do it.

We use (generic) duraflame logs so the stacked logs are really for decor but they have been treated, are few in number and are elevated so over the last 6 years weve had no problem- except for the need for occasional dusting!

i love the design of the room and the different textures.

the ceiling is really creative...but a bit overwhelming for me. i separate work and sleep and all those pages make me think of work (maybe its my line of work- lots of reading!) but i can see how it could bring others a lot of joy!

cool idea. looks really comfy!

i would have preferred a daybed look though. that way i could share more comfortably as a couch with visitors that i wouldn't otherwise take to my bedroom.

Bed is currently made in red and white stripped duvet and shams accented with lime green and white stripped bolster pillows. Feels fresh and fun, not christmas-like at all.
