I am so happy to see this use of an attic. We converted the attic into a toy loft for my son 5 years ago and as he grows out of it I am considering moving my bed up there. Your pictures provide great inspiration!

I have been replacing the original redwood siding on my 1929 house with Hardie lap siding. It is a PITA to cut, but other than that I am in love. To match what was available and in common use in the 20s would have been expensive and an environmentally unsustainable choice.

The only quibble I have is that the product sold in stock at HD and Lowes has CHEESY fake wood grain stamped on it. WHY??? My original redwood siding had little to no apparent grain and I think that the fake grain looks ridiculous. I special ordered smooth board and it looks 100x better. I have no clue why the grained board is the default, as they cost the same! But I see old houses in my neighborhood using the patterned stuff and I cringe...

Just my $.02

I custom ordered an oval track to go above a clawfoot tub. It was a low ceiling already and I thought one of those traditional pipe systems would feel really claustrophobic. It has been installed 10 years now and still works great. The roller parts have to be replaced occasionally because they rust, but the track is still working great. I liked it so well that I installed another one in the bay window in my shower. I have the ikea track in my bedroom and there is no comparison. I will probably replace the ikea track with the roller track as soon as I finalize the layout of the room.

I love the colored LED lights, I think the colors are so pure - it really is a nice quality of light. And a couple places near me have micro LEDs that twinkle and it looks quite magical. On the whites, I agree that I prefer the warm colors for *most* applications, except for icicle lights, where I find the cool blue looks right.
