Bed-Stuy is a few blocks from me and I love how it has changed over the years. I love the apartment. It is so welcoming and reminds me of some of my families' apartments in Brooklyn. I have a big Last Supper painting in my dining room and it made me smile to see your collection of the painting.

I've been a fan of his since I saw him on Oprah years ago and watched his show on & off. He's a sweety and I'm looking forward to the event tomorrow. :)

Hi fellow Williamsburg neighbor. :)
Even though you didn't want to paint the walls just yet, the way you displayed your art makes the walls colorful to me. Very cute place.

Life Lessons: Smart Tips for Determining the Rent You Can Really Afford Renters Solutions

I currently live in Brooklyn, NY (Williamsburg area) with my mom, until I get a new job and move. Her rent is 30% of her income before taxes. We live in a low/middle income housing. We don't pay for water or electricity. Neighborhood isn't the safest, but getting better. I don't drive and pay for monthly metrocard. It would be great if there was more affordable housing here.

With the job I have now, I can afford $750 a month. No way I can live on my own with that amount unless I live in a sketchy area or far out in the other boroughs. :/

I got a faux mink throw at TJ Maxx. I think you can also find them at Marshall's. :)

It is a sacrifice. Being born and raised in NYC and I still live here, I don't know any different and I love snow. However, If I were to move to let's say CA & live by the beach I think I could get use to that. :D

I love the apartment. I have friends who live in that area and I need to show them this tour b/c they don't know how to make their space look bigger. I live in Brooklyn & my place is bigger, but looks more cluttered. I'm taking the tips I've learned from this apartment tour to make my place more roomy. Lovely furniture too.

I sleep in a sofabed and I close it up every morning. I leave it open a while longer on weekends. It's become my morning ritual to make the beds and if I don't I feel sloppy. :)

This place is very cute! Growing up in Brooklyn, NY my whole life, the noise doesn't bother me, plus you can always use a white noise machine if it does. :)
My friends have studios and I've seen them place their bed along the window sideways or put a desk in front of the window instead. Whatever works for you and makes you happy! That's what matters. :)

I love it! I'm a Kid Robot fan too and have a few collectibles scattered around. I love Bob's Burgers too, so as soon as I saw that on the TV I knew this guy has a great sense of humor and it shows in the fun apartment. :)

My cat's litter box is in my living room and doesn't smell. I got him neutered and maybe that helped since before that it really did stink.

I use Fresh Step & feed him high quality food I buy at his Vet's office.

I LOVE Home Goods! So happy when one opened in NYC! I plan on purchasing a pair of lamps for my living room from there. I try and go twice a month to see what new items have been added. I may pick up a birdhouse. :)

I'm 33 & living with my mom, so I understand what you're going through. It's cheaper than paying $2,000 per month for a studio in NYC. Far be it for me to judge you.

So, until we both reach the point where we are financially able to get our own place, talk to your mom about cutting down on the clutter if it's really a problem. I pay some of the rent & utilities so she doesn't mind me cleaning & organizing. If you're not contributing financially, you'll have to leave her things alone & decorate your own room however you like. Hope you get back on your feet soon. :)
