If you are not going to use a canopy (or the adorable flower decoration), why would you have a plain rod over your bed? I'm sorry, but it looks like pvc pipe to me... :S Sorry...

We live in a different time. In the past, when we had no answering machines (I KNOW! and we lived through it! ;) ), the only way you could receive a call is if you answered the ring. If you missed it, you'd wonder who was calling, so if someone was within arm's reach, you would say, "Pick that up for me, would you please?" Now, with cell phones and answering machines, I wouldn't answer unless someone asked. :)

A lot of these ideas "look" good (especially when just planted), but really...in the long run, some will not do well at all. Plants DO need drainage. Some of these ideas need almost constant watering as the soil area is so small, they will dry out quickly. And if you have too much light, it's a good idea to use containers that you can move around (or put inside when it frosts).
I am a farmer and have a half acre greenhouse where we use my husband's Senior Project from Cal Poly University to grow basils, bell peppers, green beans, etc (all short plants) in PVC pipe hanging (horizontally) from the cross bars. We have holes in the top and the roots stand in the pipe, the plants pick up what they need from the water we run through them. No waste of space!
I'm always telling my Farmers Market customers to "use your vertical space" if you don't have much room in your home/patio/yard.
You can see our set up at a youtube video or on Facebook. (not advertising here, just trying to help everyone to see how to use their vertical space).

Such WISE words (your list)! I am going to share this with my friends! People put such store in "things" and I feel for them. I used to be the same until I saw a woman on the news. A fire had swept through Santa Barbara, CA and she was standing in front of the smoldering ruins of her home. She looked into the camera and pointed over her shoulder and said, "THIS was my china and crystal and silver that I didn't use because I was "saving" it for special occasions. I will NEVER EVER do that again...." She taught me a good lesson that day and I repeat it every time the moment is right. I've recently lost some precious china in the mail and there was nothing to be done, so I let it go. I have the memories...

Oh... and we used them outside to line our walkway for our dog who was partially blind. He would walk right along the edge and follow the lights home :) We called them "Buddy's runway lights" :)

bejeweled... I didn't notice them getting too warm at all, but you could try them out separately to see if they get hot over a long time before you put them near fabric. We had them up for years and they never seem harmful. And we are pretty careful about these kinds of things... :)

Sea Glass and Buttons... I like your idea for the light balls in the fireplace ;)

We used to have a canopy of netting over our bed. It started one Christmas my husband, Philip said, "Where did we get all these twinkle lights?" , as he went though the boxes of decorations. "They were on sale last year for a dollar a string, so I bought extra...", I said. He disappeared into the bedroom and finally I went in and here he had all these lights going around the room... LOL :D We eventually got a canopy of netting a draped them over the netting and behind...put them on a dimmer and they were really pretty. Hmm...I'm thinking we need to do something like this again....

We use this same, "broom and cloth" method :) We live in the country, so we have lots of dust and cobwebs. I'll just say to my husband, "We need to do some cobweb eradication" and he'll get out the broom and go at it :) Works well (when we find the time ;) ).

A gift from the heart that shows you "know" who the receiver IS, is best. Unfortunately, a lot of people do not look up from their "smart phones" to notice things like this anymore. I pay attention to what people say, do, and what their homes look like all year 'round and I usually get them something they love as it actually "gets" their personality. Please think before you just grab something because you need to bring a gift. It means so much more...

Really nice makeover! I just bought my own dresser at the local Goodwill and it has fantastic "art deco" silver colored handles (nine drawers!). Planning on doing my own first time makeover...a little nervous about it and second guessing myself...I hope it turns out well...
