That's so great! Entertainment centers have a lot of raw material if you are willing/able to do some deconstruction. We made a 20" wide by 48" tall storage cabinet with a door, to fit a narrow space in our bedroom. We cut out of the shelf side of a solid (but not pretty) entertainment center, added plywood and trim to replace the fake leaded glass in the door, and painted it white.

A variation on the paint in bare feet suggestion--paint in old socks, that way drips are absorbed and not accidentally spread around.

I buy 85%-90% of my clothing at second hand stores, mostly at our local (really nice) Goodwill. It's a treasure hunt, and I end up with some great quality items that I then keep for several years. I agree that the volume of discarded clothing (and other items like household goods) is disheartening. I agree--only buy new when you have to, and think outside the box when donating to find used items a home.

Definitely too staged looking. Most entries are from people who truly love their homes, and the spaces typically reflect a bit of the owners' soul. This just feels commercial.

You could also use a heavy duty Command hook, and not have to put any holes in the wall!

I agree with some pop of color that feels right to you--a variation on your blue, or even a nice rich red. Our house is fairly neutral, but we have a red, a purple, and a teal painted wooden chairs that migrate to different rooms and give some surprise and interest.

I don't have a Dutch Oven, either. I use the insert from my Crockpot--it's nice and heavy, and works great.

Good call, radjam--that's exactly what it looks like.

The idea of the stain is kind of cool and different, but both types of pulls seem like odd choices for this piece.
