I found out there were 7 kids under the age of 10 to the left and right of us after buying my house, and something tells me there's still more to come. Oh and half of them are home schooled so that's 24/7 kid chaos.

I am renovating now and the first thing to do in every room is take down the drop down ceiling tiles. We have had to undo so many layers and layers of bad ideas. Also, our inspector did warn us that some of the ceiling tiles might have asbestos, so be weary of that.

I have wood exactly like this from my 100 year old house renovation! I am going to chop them in to 2 inch pieces and make an end grain countertop. This wood is SOLID and has a beautiful contrasty grain.
