I brought my mom back a gigantic one from Canada, only to discover they'd smashed it into tiny bits and took out the toy in the centre. :( this was before these things were banned. JERKS!

excessive steps or ingredients that aren't REALLY necessary or don't make much of a difference. AND rare/hard-to-find ingredients that cost too much when it isn't even the focal flavour of the dish. that's just dumb.

I am sensitive to food allergies but am generally unsympathetic to picky eaters. One of the reasons I broke up with an ex was because he was about as picky as a toddler about food. He would basically only eat foods that you could find on a child's menu at a restaurant (really plain spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, cereal, lasagna, hamburger helper, etc). I can't help but see that as a personality conflict for me: too boring.

i blend them up in smoothies! i like the texture and the jolt it supplies (theobromine!) for breakfast smoothies. almond milk + cacao beans/nibs + a few raw, unsalted cashews + frozen banana + frozen berries = magical breakfast.

I'm lactose intolerant so I switched to almond milk out of necessity, but I've grown to really love it. I even make my own sometimes (which is a lot easier than you think), and I've gone from sweetened to unsweetened almond milk. I use it in baking, smoothies (AMAZING in smoothies), puddings, etc- just about anywhere you'd use cow milk.
The type of almond milk you buy dictates its flavour, obviously - the standard 'original' often comes sweetened, and there's also chocolate, vanilla, and unsweetened out there. I find that you can taste more nuttiness in the unsweetened.
