A question about the landscape with building painting - to the left of the couch - is that a Jean Jack painting? If not, what can you tell me about it?
Reno looks fantastic. I'm also someone who will do as much work - even in a rental - to make my home my own.

The chalk paint people would have you believe you can paint right over most anything with no sanding or priming. Worth some investigating.

I once had a very budget conscious but quite old rental. The bathroom was tiny, with cheap paneling half way up from the baseboard. I primed and painted the paneling white. It looked kind of like white wainscoting. Then I purchased inexpensive white trim to top off the formerly raw paneling. It made a tremendous difference - looking more like beach cottage bath than the formerly sad rental bath.

My birthday is the 20th of December, AND I am a twin. Luckily, my parents were so looking forward to girls after having 2 boys and several miscarriages, that they made it a point to celebrate our birthday separate from Christmas. In fact, for many years, first there was our birthday, and that seemed to start off the Christmas holidays. Not a bad thing.

For me it's mirrors. I have several that were in my childhood home. None of them are my style, but there's something about knowing that my dad (gone almost 50 years now) looked in the hallway mirror every Sunday morning and adjusted his fedora before going to Mass. A little creepy maybe, but I wouldn't give it up for anything.

I just found out that the chevron derived from the upside down V shape that two "chevre" goats make when they jump up and head butt each other. Just so you know.

As much as I love my 22-yr-old kitty, #6 is a door, shut with her on one side and me on the other. She enjoys occasionally nibbling my nose. I do not. We both sleep better on opposite sides of the door.

Another idea, and particularly appreciated by totally non-tech grandparents. Write down a memory of time spent with them when you were young, something you learned from them, why and when you remember it, what difference it made in your life. If you have a picture to add, more the better. Print out and send snail mail. I've seen grandparents and parents cry to know they have made a positive difference in someone's life.
