Gojo (it's a pumice hand cleaner in the auto department) gets Anything off of my Ikea desk...even permanent marker! I love it so much that I wrote an entire blog post showing how well it works. Keeping laminate Ikea surfaces clean Good Questions |

Do you have a coat closet nearby? The entire bottom half of our front hall closet is one giant shoe cubby organizer. That keeps the row by the front door down to about 1 pair of shoes per person Entryway Kids Shoe Storage: What's Your Solution? |

Hooks are definitely the way to go. They took our dress up collection from a bunched of wadded up things crammed into drawers, to something that actually looks great as a part of playroom decor. See it here: Buy or DIY: Dress Up Clothes Storage Roundup |

The back of my pantry is my favorite place to display art too. I love that it's usually seasonal- so I try to swap it out monthly (and photograph the display each month as a keepsake). Sometimes Simple Is Best: Displaying Children's Artwork Design*Sponge |

My daughter's room is very pink, and very princessy, and I don't think that it in any way shapes who she is or what she is going to grow up to be. When she outgrows the "phase" or whatever, she's left with a room that still has lots of character and color- just minus the dolls. I see no problem with indulging a child in a collection- whether it be something gender neutral and empowering, or "frivilous" like princesses. I love that her room is filled with what she loves, and so does she. Here's her room: Girlie-Girl Culture At Home |

I'm 100% in favor of the boxes. And the way that I keep the space kid friendly while maintaining adult sanity is to store the sharp or super messy stuff on higher shelves :) Smart Storage Ideas for Creative Supplies |

Amazing. Especially the 3rd! As I try to figure out where exactly to put my ideal workspace, I've settled for at least creating one for my kids and their crazy crafting projects. When they clean up their stuff, it doubles pretty nicely as a buffet table for entertaining, and triples as a place to sit with the laptop if the dining room table is otherwise occupied. I love this! I did a little etsy searching awhile back to see what other "adult" alternatives there were to the dorm door dry erase board and found a few others that are cute too:
