No offense, but what's up with all these elaborate and no doubt, expensive, toddler and kid parties? I hate this trend and it keeps getting more insane. It's not about the kids, its about the parents. Whatever happened to pin -the-tail on the donkey in the basement w/ a few balloons and cake?

@JasmineIsDomestic, aside from being far more energy and water efficient than they used to be, most new dishwashers actually have a "sanitize" cycle and can prevent the spread of sickness throughout the household...unlike hand washing.

Have to say that although I'm a NY'er, I'm digging the California house tours so much more than the NY ones lately. They seem to be more about personal style and comfort and less about what is the latest trend or material that will impress. The CA homes we've been seeing lately are not self-conscious and contrived like the NY ones. Sorry, I know its a generalization, but NY hipsters are a dime a dozen here and all their apartments are starting to look alike to me.
