Oh, I ache in jelousy -- the coffee table, the organized kitchen, the legs...all of it! Excuse me while I sulk in my cluttered apartment now.

Neat. But is the tour complete? I saw only 18 pictures and the one with Mike isn't there.

I'm not sure what I love more, Chula and Rio or the candy yellow curtains. Now on to the house tour!

"Do it now" isn't going to work for me. I have plenty of things I want to do. If I lived by that resolution, by the end of the year, I would have a jumbled mess of projects initiated waiting hopelessly to see fruition. My resolution this year? Learn to prioritize. If I succeed at this, then I will begin to do things without spreading myself thin, and perhaps sort out my life even in some little way.

Reupholstery and replacing the pillows are the only acceptable solution. I vote for gray fabric with white piping for the sofa.

What a post to start the year. The good news is, it can only go uphill from here.

Great apartment, by the way, but that swirly artwork above the TV has to go somewhere where it would pop. Right now it just kind of melts in the background since most of its colors are as muted as the salmon wall.

Well I don't understand all the fuss, let alone feeling sorry for Kevin. I'm a guy, and I wouldn't mind living with a woman who could decorate our place like this. First off, the salmon wall. As Ross Geller knows, it's a perfectly okay color for a straight man to embrace. I myself like pink, I have a pink wall, an idea I got after visiting several cities in Mexico. I see it as a happy color, not a feminine or an unmanly color. Second, the art and decor. Granted, a lot of them I wouldn't have, and a lot of them are feminine, but there are many that are gender neutral as well, and that's good enough for me. Honestly, if I were living with a woman, she could put anything she likes up on our walls if that's what would make her happy. Now if Kevin isn't allowed to eat or drink in the sofa...oh but let's not get into that.

Nice and clean. Love the lights above the dining table. Needs rugs.

Could this be a sign? I swear to Godzilla, I was just thinking of how, when I do buy a house (I've been thinking more seriously about it), I would use brick for an interior wall and subway tiles and brass(ish) fittings for the kitchen and bathroom. Fantastic house. Oh and I love the color yellow, too. This tour just made my heart sing.

I worry about the placement of the lean-against-the-wall mirror in such a high-traffic area in the top picture. Looks like it's courting disaster.

Lovely home. The entry wall is stunning and I like how the dining wall sets a different mood to the bright living room and the airy kitchen. Your fireplace is fine, you didn't need to hide it behind an ottoman (which looks to me like it's just blocking that path). How about putting plants or candle stands instead? Or, more ambitiously, how about custom-building a faux fireplace around it? Also, I find the coffee table/ottoman to be too matchy-matchy with the sofa and chairs, although it iskid friendly.

That dining table reminds me of a cosmetics store I pass by often, which uses something similar as a make-up display/try-on table. Anyway. Flawless place otherwise. If I didn't know the resident was into maps, it would look impersonal to me. It has almost like a business-hotel/serviced-apartment feel to it.

Now where does one find bayonets?

I think your only problem is the couch, but before I get into that, may I suggest that you get rid of the two black Expedits, because they're too sleek, whereas white works better with vintage. The Poang chair is fine; remember that it was inspired (or it looks like it to me) by Alvar Aalto's 406 armchair, designed in 1939. Now for that couch--again it's too sleek and bachelor-pad-y to be vintage (it even looks like a gamer's couch to me, sorry) so I would suggest getting a large, light colored kilim rug. Kilim always has a vintage feel, and are also not very pricey (check out Ikea's Alvine Ruta). You could also try accessorizing the sofa with fabric, but good luck keeping them from sliding off that slippery looking surface.

@goodcalljon: I thought the same thing but somehow assumed this was a rental and that kind of thing would have to be discussed with the landlord. If Glory owns it, then that's definitely the way to go.

Putting a thin wall or a shelf next to the sink sounds like a too-ambitious idea to me. An open shelf that is not fastened to a wall would at least be a foot deep (IKEA's Expedit is almost 16 inches) and would look unwelcoming if that's the first thing a visitor would see. Honestly? I would simply put a full-length mirror directly opposite to the door and a nice plant stand with a flowering plant at the corner (next to the sink, partially covering the mirror). Everybody likes the sight of themselves, and when your visitors enter your house, their own selves and the beautiful plant will be the first things they'll see, they wouldn't even notice the kitchen. What's important is that you keep the sink sparkly clean at all times so it doesn't call attention to itself.

It's obvious the couple has excellent taste in furnishings, but save for the buffet, nothing is really able to stand out because everything just overwhelms everything else. There may be a few French-style pieces, but I honestly don't even sense a tinge of Frenchness here. There's just way too much stuff it even feels as if items were placed where they were simply because there was space. That said, the apartment unit is great -- natural lighting is a real treasure.
