I agree with fab - control what you can control. What I've been doing this year is, when I am able to "control" my meals (i.e. eating at home, preparing my own meals at someone else's house, snacks), I've been eating light, vegetarian-only meals. So maybe an egg and toast or bowl of cereal for breakfast, some whole wheat pasta with cottage cheese for lunch, fruits and veggies for snacks. That way when I end up at a Christmas dinner and gorge myself, at least I haven't been eating like that all week so the holidays as a whole don't take a huge toll on my body. I made these last fall and they were amazing! For some reason I forgot about the recipe but I'm glad I found it bookmarked. I subbed cranberries for the raisins because I just don't like raisins. Can't wait to make them again! Quick One-Bowl Recipe: Apple Gouda Oatmeal Cookies |

Company's Coming Kids Cooking is one I used a lot when I was that age and one that sort of taught me how to cook before I took home ec at school, but I'm not sure if it's in print anymore. Used copies are definitely floating around the internet though. Can You Recommend A Beginner Cookbook for Teenagers? Good Questions |

I made this one for Canadian Thanksgiving and everyone who tried it agreed that it was the best pumpkin pie they'd ever had! I didn't follow the recipe EXACTLY though - I kept tasting the filling as I went and added spices until it tasted the way I wanted. Recipe: Ginger Pumpkin Pie with Graham Cracker Crust |
