That was a great instructional site and use of technology. I showed it to my wife. I learned a few things on how to best pack those common luggage types.

I love books and I love books in the bedroom. These pictures are great. However, my wife is a germ-o-phone and it's rubbing off on me. I'm thinking mildewy books. Please don't let my iPad replace these books!

In my universe (comprised of my wife, my dog and I), the answer is YES!

Ditto what Heather said. If you've got the legs, move to the highest floor. Then again, my knees still hurt occassionally from having lived in a fifth floor walk up for four years.

I thought the same thing. It's one of those ideas that on the surface seems neat, but I would not want chalk dust near my food prep or cooking areas.

Always, always buy into the best neighborhood you can afford without overextending yourself. Also, don't buy the nicest house on the block or neighborhood. The nicest house dictates the ceiling on real estate prices in the area. Why buy high? Buy in the middle of the price range for the neighborhood and look for houses with improvement (aka ROI) potential.

A home is not an investment in a traditional sense. Make sure you are buying the home because you love it and not because it merely meets all the checkboxes. That way regardless of how the market goes, you're happy in the house and can afford it.

I know a few people who got into homes they aren't emotionally invested in because they HAD to have a 3 bdrm home when they got pregnant or after they got married. Now that they've moved in they realized it doesn't reflect their lifestyle or the rooms are too cramped or they don't really like the neighborhood.

Gross. There's tons of formaldehyde and other preservatives in the cheap wood that comprises pallets. It is not good for your health to have them around you and especially indoors where the toxins bleed into your living spaces.

For a basement concrete floor, I definitely recommend laminate or wood floor with a soft underlay. Walking on concrete is tough on the joints (at least for someone with some mileage like me).

Not all laminates are made equal. I had laminate in my kitchen for a year before I laid down tile and NO-ONE amongst my many guests realized it wasn't wood. I actually miss the laminate flooring. For a basement, I would recommend a moisture resistant laminate like the TrafficMaster Allure line. This is what I had installed in my kitchen.
