Love the feel of this home. While some of it is not necessarily my style, I love that is seems to really suit the occupant. There's a comfortable, easy style about it.

And what I would give to have an outdoor space like that! So inviting.

Personally not a fan of the pattern, but why contact paper? Seems it would be so easy to tear/peel/shred/crack.

I live in a brand new apartment (constructed in 2011) and I have a large window in my shower as well, so it's not just an old trend. I actually like it because I like the ventilation and light it provides, as well as a place to put all my stuff. I'm on the 4th floor and look out over a side street, so I definitely wanted some privacy but without trying to install some ugly curtain or shade.

I put some window film on the bottom half (I'm high enough up that only the bottom half needed to be covered) that resembles frosted glass and it works really well. It's been on there for about 9 months now and no peeling whatsoever. It had a lot of bubbles in it when I first applied it (I think it's really a two-person job), but I was too lazy to take it off an start over, so I just left it as-is. Thankfully, after about a week, every last one of the bubbles worked its way ou and now it is perfectly smooth.

These curtains seem to be geared toward the 12 year old girl market.

I have a few white curtains that I switch out from time to time - one is a white seersucker, one is a white waffle, and one is a white linen.

Going to echo what others have said: it looks like a trememdous transformation, but we don't really get a sense of it - just a sense of their belongings. I'd much rather see a shot of the whole bathroom rather than a shot of toothpaste in a cup.

And I'm with Ruthtooth - I like the 'before' kitchen wallpaper. I probably would've tried to save a few pieces of it and either framed them or had them made into laquered trays or something.

Agree with Funstraw - looks like it got significantly younger rather than grew up. Went from great granny's guest room to young and cool.

I keep my used teabags in a bowl in the fridge. If I need to de-puff or soothe my eyes, placing cold, wet teabags on them for a few minutes feels wonderful.

IKEA may be cheap, but I'd argue that it can actually look ten times better than the totally genericized mid-century modern stuff you see EVERYWHERE right now. If my place is going to look like every other place out there, I'd rather fork over IKEA money for it, instead of "real furniture" money.

Really refined use of color here.

Lovely. Just lovely.

I'm glad I'm not invited to the dinner where there are TWELVE place settings squished around a table better suited for four. ;-)

I love my cheapie IKEA toilet brush. Small, unobtrusive, simple and gets the job done. And only costs $1, which makes it easy to toss and replace if it gets too icky. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20159522

IKEA also offers some more elegant looking options: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=toilet+brush

I didn't see a source for that soap dispenser - do you recall wher you got it? It looks like an old seltzer bottle and I'd LOVE to have one in my bathroom. :-)

I picked up a set of clear, nesting Pyrex bowls before. Soaked them in the kitchen sink with hot bleach water, then washed them as usual. I'm not opposed to bringing home curb finds, but I've reached the point where I just don't need any more stuff and bringing something in means something else has got to go.

I've left more things on the curb than I can even begin to recall. I left an entire living room full of furniture when I moved from DC to NYC - rug, sofa, chairs, tables, bookcases, lamps, ottoman, TV - everything. I set it up as a living room outside with a giant "FREE!" sign on it. A few passersby seemed curious but highly skeptical, so I modified the sign to say "YES, it's all really FREE! Take it!" I was delighted when a young couple came by, the woman hugely pregnant, and she lounged on the sofa until her husband came back with a truck to cart it all away. :)

Even as a kid, it drove me crazy that the inside of the house didn't work with the outside. Walking in the front door, the stairs are to the right, yet form the outside, the upper level is clearly on the left.

I saw a bunch of those Tabouret metal stacking stools on clearance for about $12 at Meijer in Mansfield OH a a few weeks ago while I was there visiting. I couldn't find them on their website, but you might still be able to find them in the stores, if you have one nearby.

What a COMPLETE waste of money. I do wash some things by hand (lingerie and some delicate blouses) and I would never in a million years consider this an option.

Like others have said, it's just a large salad spinner. A large, unbelievably overpriced salad spinner.
