Boy, this was a complete redo on pies!! How many pies did you get to eat??All amazing tips, can't wait, but the kids want Pumpkin, darn. My apple pie recipe from my sister,Nancy, from Arizona,is a tribute to her bare-bones kitchen and gourmet skills. Her secret ingredient was a tbsp of bourbon mixed into the apples! Amazing! We moved in June, after selling our old home of 3O years, 5 chiuldren, and a basement, several rooms and attic, ( Bad place) and had 3 1/2 weeks to get out!!WHAT!! Wound up in an apartment with 2 storage lockers, a storage pod, and my son's garage. We are now in a very small home with little storage. I need to get to my "stuff" and go through it, I need to rid those piles of stuff from my head and move on..it's pretty hard when it's memories and loving mementos..I hope this will help! Thanks!

Mom's Gravy..Heat up the turkey pan on 2 burners, have 1/2 cup flour at the ready and a pan of warm stock, about 2 cups. heat drippings and sprinkle the flour all over, let bubble.)There's a great tool out there just for gravy, it looks like a smashed fork with 5 prongs. erfect!
Start stirring up those bits and the flour will begin to thicken, slowly add turkey stock, but keep it cooking on low, stir, add more stock, etc, till silky smooth. I add sage and pepper to taste, salt at very end. let simmer, to cook , about 30 min, then keep warm to serve (those little crock pots are great!)

Sometimes, I find that the liver makes the giblets strong tasting, I cook it separately with butter, and then i eat it HA!

WOW,all great advice.We are looking for a new home, and will probably be doing some type of kitchen renovation. I know this sounds trite, but make sure the dishwasher opens in enough space NOT to nail you mid shin, oh and see if any are made with rounded edges!

HMM, they all sound good. I was going to pull Mom's recipe out, but, I tend to agree, by the time it's done, all the ingredients taste the same. And that's using the flouring method. I think I'll go with thickening the stock after the meat is done, AND cook the meat the day before, Yum!
