fudgey and chewy for me. frosting on a brownie is a distraction from its brownie-ness, although still delicious.

Having grown up in a developing country (Bolivia) I can tell you that they do worry about cooking odors; those who can afford it build their kitchen as a separate building, or an attached room with the only access from outside, or with a door that closes the kitchen off so that the odors don't spread through the rest of the house. But those who live in a one-room home don't have that choice. Not that I'm suggesting this as a solution :) just wanted to add my two cents.

Is this lighthouse someone's residence? If so I'd love to see the rest of it! Very cool!

I love Alton Brown and have learned so just from watching his shows! But I think the world needs all kinds of people, and some of us need food trends to keep us interested. I am also in favor of learning your basics first, and he is good at doing that in a funny and interesting way.

I use walnuts, have never been able to convince myself to shell out what it costs for pinenuts...

I loooove the blue wall. I hadn't really noticed the green floor in the first picture but it seems that painting the wall blue accentuates the floor color (and perhaps better lighting).

I admit I had the same reaction before I knew 1. that pie crust is often made with shortening and 2. that lard is better for you than shortening. But I still think there is a negative connotation, I think many people would be surprised to know that lard is lower in saturated fat than butter is.

I love the white kitchen, so lovely and made even better with the darling kitty in it!
