I really like the feature of an upholstered wall.
A Hudson Bay Blanket would really tie in nicely with your colour scheme/side panels.

If I have a third child... the first photo will definitely be my colour scheme. :-)

Amy Butler also has a pattern for poufs. I'm tempted to buy a sewing machine after spending a bit of time on her website!

I love it! If only all children were so lucky to experience original design first hand. I agree that this would not work without the abundance of light and the great artwork. I feel the urge the add larger and more ornate crown molding however...
For stimulation and development, all kids need to do is go out and to meet people.
Creating mediocre or ugly rooms under the guise that its good for the brain does nothing but teach a generation of little ones to grow up and buy generic suburban homes and decorate them with mass designed furniture. Who is to say that green is "better" than black? I'm also so happy to see original art in children's rooms as this is what the world needs more of.

liasynthis, you are amazing! I can't exclaim how happy I am to see that photo. Funny how my memory was completely wrong about the colour scheme, but the real one is even better.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

The ceiling was a labour of love. First we tried to tape off a honeycomb pattern, but promptly gave up and painted the ceiling a solid yellow. Then we individually painted and cut the wood, glued it together in sections and then nailed it with a compressor to the ceiling - the process was 40 hours.

The rocker from eq3 is not something I would recommend. I spend most of the day in our living room and use our sectional or the womb chair for nursing.

Thanks again everyone.

I received a bracelet with my daughter's name spelled out with alphabet beads. It was my favourite gift.

Take a rectangular coffee table and upholster the top with some foam and white material of your choice. I saw it done on Home to Flip for about $60.

I would love to make my own pendant lamp similar to the "nut" sold at DWR. Any leads?

I think the true issue is having the tv as a focal point in the room (which used to be the fireplace's job).

We have a tv over our low, mantleless fireplace but the focal point in the room is our modern sofa centered with the picture window.

I really like the modern take on mouldings and the colour scheme. I think the room would benefit from a large light fixture in the room.

I really like the wall but not the room overall. I would have liked to see less stuff in the room.

I think you should also paint the table white and do something with your bookcases. At least paint the back wall of the cabinet or wallpaper it. Or, paint the doors and outside of the bookcases so the inside stays white...

Sounds more manageable than my ebony-stained bamboo... It seems to gets dirty just by looking at it! Our all-white living room stands up much better to our puppy than our hardwood flooring does.
I vote that you wear down your semi-gloss floor and invest in the high gloss when it needs a refresh. I can only imagine how patient you would be to wait for the floor to dry.

How is beautiful storage unrealistic?

Use your imagination! There was a time when I came home with a beautiful man and my dress definitely didn't make it past the entrance...

jk... but it's just an ad, not a real home.
