I love this! A super nice change from the very traditional/conservative houses of the DC area - I grew up in NoVA in a non-traditional, homemade house myself. I love this site because it reminds me not everyone in DC/MD/VA lives in a McMansion! I do have two questions - do your strawberries come back from year to year, or do you replant? thanks for the suggestions! i might try those decals or the suction cup gardens! i like both of those. i have a lot of other color going on now that the faux cabbage has been removed and my own items have been added. eventually there will be an overhaul to a flat surface, replacing the white tiles altogether, but for now a few other things are higher up on the list - privacy fence, new faucet, outlet installation, new washer, etc. tea towels....yikes. sadface! i did that steaming edamame recently.. i put some vegetable oil in there (a decent amount, maybe a 1/2 inch) and simmered it for about an hour and with that and a little bit of scrubbing, it came off. you have to let it simmer long enough for the oil to fully saturate the yuck, so the longer the better. also, i have heard using baking soda and water and simmering for an hour works just as well. never tried that though. do any of you know where to get one or all of the following three items: 1. a pour spout that fits the wine bottle so it can be used for olive oil 2. whatever it is that they use for the bottle opening that is shown in the bird feeder photo 3. a toggle top (like on a canister, but smaller) so the bottle can be used to store/serve water this article had lots of good ideas, but the follow through is leaving me puzzled!
