I've been terrified to do this. My wife keeps pointing out to people how much of the things we own are my things, in particular my books, dvds, and cds. I just can't convince myself to move from the cases to binders, even though I have friends who have been happy making the change.

Phones: 7 total. Random nokia candy bar phone, motorola razr, heavier duty candy bar phone, three blackberries (two purchased by work, one hand me down), one HTC EVO. Slightly more than 1 per every two years since I started having a phone.
Tablet: 1. Samsung 7" Galaxy. Not the new one.
Computers: Since 1999, I think 9. I still actively use 4 of them, which I kind of assume isn't that bad.

I care about HD, but even comparing televisions side by side in the store, I can only tell the difference some of the time.

More important to me is the fact that I rarely "just" watch something. My wife and I tend to read books or play on our tablets while only half paying attention to the television or a movie. Unless we're at the theater (where, obviously, resolution is not the same as at home) there's nothing we're so focused on that a more ridiculously crisp image improves our lives.

Sadly, I'm not sure I'll ever convince my wife to go without cable, but yeah, for the five years before we dated, I was cable-less, and even when I bought a big screen tv, it was always cheaper to buy DVDs of full seasons of the few shows I wanted to watch then it was to pay for cable. Right now, she pays for HBO all year so we can watch True Blood and Game of Thrones as they happen, but that's her choice, and my suggestions that she wait a day and buy the episode on iTunes or the like is untenable.

Technically, nine. But only five that I use regularly.

I of course can't remember where I read it, but I feel like there was some report about the emissions from laser jet printers triggering asthma.

My mother has Google's Picasa application installed on her desktop, and no matter what photo she's looking for, she looks for it "in" Picasa. When she finds the photo she wants, she can't get it into Facebook or as an email attachment, because, shockingly, Picasa is not a location on her hard drive she can link to. She calls my sister and I to try to talk her through figuring out how to locate pictures on her hard drive, making what should be a powerful convenience into a sort of painful hassle.

I've always been amused *and saddened) that my jobs have always involved commuting to computers, but my coworkers and direct supervisors have never been great at phone conversations, so I haven't been able to telecommute.
One of the downsides for telecommuting is stressful work environments that are in your house can make it really difficult to relax. Several of my law school classmates opened their own firms (as is pretty normal) but felt like their days never ended when they worked from home.

it would have been nice to have it break down where my blind spots are, so to speak, though.

After living in dorms, I like the idea of being able to spread out. That said, I live a life where I really don't get to spend all that much time at home, and I did end up putting computers and alarms in pretty much every room. I don't know if I'd have ever considered it weird without seeing this post.

Change It Up: Moving Small Appliances to Unexpected Rooms

Doubtless, one of my dorm rooms (I lived in seven different ones, three singles, three doubles, and a triple) would count as the smallest, but I had a lot of reasons to not be "home" during undergrad and grad school. My smallest apartment was 900 square feet for four of us. I keep trying to live smaller, but I don't have the discipline to cull my clothes or books, and I can't ethically get rid of my dvd or cd collections.

more space at a cheaper per month cost than a mortgage (though, we lose some tax benefits for renting, in this state).
free heat, water, snow removal.
two garage spaces (in a city where one car garages are the norm)
basement storage
walkable neighborhood

I've long been a big fan of Ultimate Ears. The high end sets are fantastic, though also fantastically expensive. I wouldn't ever go jogging with my Super.5s, but when I don't want to disturb my wife and want great clarity, they're fantastic around my house.
