Fantastic room! We also made a nursery out of our closet. I was just able to fit a stokke oval crib, which is about 2 inches shorter than a standard crib fyi, and my son still fits just fine in it (1yr). Also, I didn't realize the fabric on the ceiling was a fire hazard - I think it looks awesome! Avery's Colorful Closet Nook My Room |

Hey Everyone! Laura here! Thank you for your feedback and I love this discussion. I feel very strongly about the issue of gender rolls that our children are burdened with, which is precisely why I "neutralized" the colors of the stroller. It's frustrating that all toys which are traditionally considered "girl" toys are pink. My son is only 1yr, so he doesn't care what color his toys are. He loves his baby dolls, is a great chef in the play kitchen, and will continue riding in a pink polka dot car seat that he inherited from his sister. This was a fun project which, I believe, removed the gender marker that was placed on this toy. Before & After: Gender Neutral Doll Stroller |

I think it's a good idea! I think it's a perfectly legit way to get a sense for what someone might like. Pinterest especially - you could see colors, decor, food tastes, etc. I mean, it's not like someone is going to find their boss's amazon wishlist and go get them an automatic screw driver for xmas just because it was listed there. But they may see that their boss is into wine or cooking or whatever, and be able to find a nice foodie gift. Sneaky Ways to Find Wish Lists Online |

My daughter has a severe peanut allergy. She ALWAYS has an epipen on her. All of our good friends know this and alert me to any dishes she can't have. If we're going somewhere where the host doesn't know our family well enough to know this fact already, then I bring food for my daughter and break it out ONLY if I can't find something safe for her to eat. A big one is birthday parties. I just stop by a bakery I know is peanut-free and pick up a single cupcake on the way to parties and that way she can enjoy celebrating with everyone, without burdening the host with hunting down safe cake. You've gotten some great ideas here! My favorite is the vintage metal wall art, suggested by tequilared. Putting art work make the most sense to me, and having something 3D makes sense with the shallow indent. Otherwise, I would hang a row of those tall, skinny test tube looking vases and put a row of bamboo. I love fresh, living plants when I first enter a home. What Can I Do with Shallow Wall Niche? I am great with color and lighting, but pretty stumped on furniture. We have a very small house so every square inch counts. There is only room for exactly the right couch and chair and dining table. OH and rugs! I have bare floors because I am paralyzed by the possibilities. A bad rug could ruin the whole space! Not to mention thousands of dollars! A Day With A Decorator: What Would You Do? |

I haven't read any suggestions yet for foaming soap. That's what we use for hand soap in my house. I buy Dr. Bronners in bulk and cut it with water into my reusable foaming soap dispensers. It makes liquid soap last 2-3 times longer, and is no mess at all, and of course if you reuse containers, there is no wasted plastic stuff. Easy peasy! Small Changes, Serious Impact |

akay: that was something I was wondering about. I love the idea of hosting a neighborhood summer camp for a week, and I know there are a million kids around here who would like to participate. But in addition to the camp substituting daycare for those mornings (meaning no parent could be present) I also wondered about the libility. I guess you could have a lawyer write up some kind of waver for the parents to sign? But who would sign that? If I could figure out a way around that I think I'd be all about planning this for next summer. Start a Neighborhood Summer Camp |

My awesome back yard. It's awesome because we have one! I love that I can just leave the back door open and my kids can run in and out. Even though we live in a big city, it makes things feel more 'normal' that they can go out of of doors alone. Of course this isn't only a summer thing - my daughter will throw on a raincoat if it's a rainy spring day and head out back! What Do You Love About Your Home in the Summer? |

Fifthpocket: We took the bumper off the crib just before my baby was born because of this, but I got tired of watching my poor son bang his head on the crib slats. He can move around a bit, but he'd get stuck and just bang, bang, bang. He has bruises on his little head. So I got a movement monitor (Snuza Halo Baby Movement Monitor) and put the bumper back on. I'm so glad that I did. And if his breathing slows, become irregular, or stops, the monitor will let me know. Meanwhile, I'm not being woken up to a screaming baby with a bruised up head. So yes, bumpers do prevent some injuries. Major's Majorly Chic Dual Purpose Nursery My Room |
