Less is more, for both consistency and flavor. Use only 1-2 tablespoons of culture per quart of milk, and you will find the result thicker and less acidic than you would if using a heavier hand. (It's the overproduction of acid in the early stages that produces a watery yogurt.) It will take a little longer to culture, but it will have the texture and flavor you want.

And you don't need to heat the culture after scalding the milk. Just place your pot inside a tight cooler or beneath thick layer of blankets, and the residual heat and the heat of fermentation will keep it at the ideal temperature.

We get waaaay more zucchini & summer squash from our CSA than we'd like, and I've come up with two solutions: Squasha-Ganoush and Chow chow, the latter of which is also a great catch all for an overage of peppers, green tomatoes, tomatillos, etc.

That's my pole, so quit slagging on it, haters! ;-) Actually, it would be cluttered & noisy, if it wasn't hidden behind the end of a kitchen cabinet. I came up with it looking for a way to hang all those pots without it being busy, as a ceiling rack would have been.

I hope that you can update this post to give readers some help in sourcing these items (both the globe bulbs and the different cord kits) in the US. We have been hoping to DIY both of these types of lights but have held off since we haven't found parts as nice as these. Thanks!

Looks like even the 3/4" is back ordered now, in whatever color. Oh well.

So with the mitered edge, does it just hang down in front? Did your installer have to put blocks underneath it, to raise it up above the cabinets, to clear doors and drawers?

Nice crib, love the kitchen especially.

Two quick questions: what color fireslate is that? We're having our Cambridge kitchen done up in it too. Is that the standard slate color, or another gray?

Also, where'd you get the white utility lamp over the kitchen island? Been looking for something like that ourselves for a little while. They have a few at Ikea that are okay, but not that nice.
