I've gotten coconut milk powder at H-Mart before, for anyone who has that around them. Also, as for price, Trader Joe's sells light coconut milk for $0.99/can, which I feel is a very reasonable price!

There was no age old enough to be allowed to use the stove (or really anything except the microwave) in my parents house. To this day, at 26 and 30, my brother & I aren't allowed to use the kitchen. I think it's more that the kitchen is my mom's "place", so really no one is allowed to mess with it... This certainly made it interesting when we moved out on our own & and had to find a way to feed ourselves!

Cold salads are great because you can make them over the weekend and have them ready for any impromptu picnics during the week! Here are couple of my favorites to have on hand:

One of the go-to lunches in our house is this Avocado, Tuna and Quinoa Jumble: http://sweetpotatoandspice.wordpress.com/2013/03/31/avocado-tuna-quinoa-jumble/ It doesn't need to be microwaved, it's super nutritious and delicious! Otherwise, leftovers and turkey sandwiches are what we pack for lunches. Also, don't forget that eggs cook beautifully in the microwave and are a great way to add some protein to anything you bring!

Last night I made the Artichoke, Kale & Ricotta Pie that was recently featured here on the kitchen, and it was delicious! I added some sautéed mushrooms and used spinach instead of kale. It was light, yet so flavorful (don't forget the S&P!), I'm sure it would be a hit with a crowd.

I make this veggie dip, called Cowboy Caviar:

http://sweetpotatoandspice.wordpress.com/2013/03/17/cowboy-caviar/

It's great because you can chop everything up the day before and all you have to do is take it out of the fridge when your guests arrive! That way you have time to worry about everything else you will be serving. Plus, the dip is so fresh and tasty it's always a hit with everyone!

I searched "egg timer" on Amazon, and it was the first to pop up: http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Egg-Rite-Timer/dp/B00004UE75/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362691431&sr=8-1&keywords=egg+timer

It's <$5 too. I use mine almost weekly and I would be distraught if I lost it!

I think my threshold is higher, but only because I buy coffee out so rarely. If I'm on the go, I'm making my own coffee (french press at home or my french press to-go mug). If I'm buying from a coffee shop, I'm there to sit back & enjoy, or maybe to get some work done; either way, I don't mind paying >$3.00 for a cup of joe.

We just had a new coffee shop move in down the street from us, and they charge $3.25-4.50 for a cup of pour-over coffee. This may sound extravagant, but it's good! Plus, I'm not only supporting a local business but they support a local coffee roaster, and if it's only once or twice a month I see it as money well spent.

I have such a love-hate relationship with both driving and public transport. My husband and I have 1 car. He commutes 45 miles and drives, while I commute within the city where we live so I take the bus. The problem is, the bus is so terribly unreliable that often times it takes me just as long (if not longer) to go my 5 miles via bus as it does my husband to go 45 miles via car. On the other hand, when I run errands on the weekends and am driving, I realize how much I hate being behind the wheel!

Anyways, my vote is for public transit. I just wish I lived in a city with a better system.

we have always had the whole family in the picture. and now that we're grown, both my brother & I's spouses make the picture too. there's no posing, matching outfits or anything like that, it's just whatever picture we've captured of the 6 of us from throughout the year.

I keep pre-roasted veggies (carrots, broccoli, peppers etc) diced small in the fridge, as well as pre-cooked turkey bacon. My morning routine:

1. scoop some veggies into the bottom of a bowl, microwave for 30sec
2. add an egg to the bowl, scramble it and microwave 1min
3. place on a sandwich thin w. 1 slice of bacon (cut in half) and EAT!

I'm out the door in no time, and I've got a delicious & nutritious breakfast.

We bought the Karlstad corner sofa in Aug 2011 in the 'isunda grey' color. We love it so much! It's super comfy and has held up well so far.

I know upholstered furniture can sometimes be iffy to buy used, but we bought an ikea chair on Craigslist for 1/2 the price. It was literally like-new, we were able to save $$$ and we still use it to this day (3 years later).

+1 for Aspen from C&B. We've had ours 2+ years, it's the only dinnerware we have (so we use it everyday) and it's still as nice as it was out of the box.

Wish this had been posted yesterday! Last night, I cooked spaghetti squash for the first time. I roasted it whole @ 425 for 30min, let it cool off then cut in half...we ended up eating seeds because they were hard to get out once the squash was cooked!
