We moved into a place with a slight musty smell. It was bothering me to no end, but the location was great, and a fenced in yard for the kids...We negotiated some kitchen renos before moving in and I thought the weird smell would go away after we moved our stuff in and whatnot. Wellll- flash forward 6 weeks and all our stuff was ruined with MOLD. With no recourse, and nothing legally that could be done... our landlords were "nice" enough to give us a portion of our security deposit back. Then they rented the place a few days later to someone else... Should have followed my gut. Never again will I move into a place with a weird smell.

I'm just outside of DC. Maybe they're local!

I have those side chairs, got @ a ReStore... Where did you get yours? I'm curious because I've never seen them anywhere else. Also, I used to have almost the same exact couch. Funny. I love your style!! :)

I couldn't have those vases down so low with my kids running around... especially since I believe those side tables double as seats? Anything on those tables would be "wrong" to my toddler! :)

Number 2 just doesn't seem like a comfortable place to sit... If I sat in one of those chairs, I'd feel like the table was trying to eat me.

I suppose someone who only shops at Costco for groceries has a refrigerator that's usually small, equipped with gaudy peanut butters and jellys of an off brand, sour milk, misc unhealthy foods and huge salad dressings with low quality ingredients, food pushed all the way to the back to make way for their poor choice of beer featured mostly the cheaper selection from the store.

But who are we to judge? The same "crap" can be had from other bargain stores at a MUCH higher price. One house full of IKEA will always beat one house furnished from Value City or Room Store anytime, which seems to be the go to place for people who don't know any better at all.

I've got Abalone in my kitchen and a hallway along with Silver Fox. FYI they go lavender in my house in shadowy light. I personally wanted a shade of gray that shifted slightly during different times of the day, so I love it. Silver Fox is especially purple in the evenings.

You can do it! With my first one, during a trip I always rode in the back until she fell asleep. Now with two kids in the back of a compact car, I can't do that.
If my LO (four months) starts to get fussy on long trips I will roll the windows down, he likes that. If it's during the day, I'll put a book or magazine with faces for him to look at. At night it usually works to recite his favorite book or sing his favorite songs.

I also put something for him to kick with his feet, even if it's just one of my sweaters.

Pack so that his rattles/teethers can't fall where you can't reach while driving. I shove some pillows around the side of the carseat so this doesn't happen. Good luck! :)

Wow. This looks exactly like the apartment I used to live in. I got two Ikea Expedit (2x4 and 2x2) and put them next to each other to create a sort of "wall" in between the dining room and hallway. I'm guessing the set up is the same for you, if the barstools are on your right the hallway is right in front of you? The 2x2 Expedit gave another surface for serving food or a place to move things off the table when it was time to eat as well as the obvious storage.

Where's the fridge? Unless it's under the counter this kitchen doesn't look very functional to me.

On a whim, I painted the bedroom "Phantom Mist" by Olympic. It's very dark, almost black on our walls.

I love it. It's very soothing and like a cocoon.

Dark or Light Paint in the Bedroom?

We put a 2x2 brown/black Expedit on top of a 2x8 brown/black Expedit next to our closet, similar situation. Our wall color is brown/black so it blends in great and since we have short ceilings, we gained storage up to the ceiling.

If you decided to use one, you could always paint it to your wall color?
