Congrats on your engagement! Agree about the bathtub. There's just something about relaxing in a tub after a bout with the flu or an especially rough day that showers just don't offer. And dogs or cats are especially good friends not just during sickness but also with breakups. Not so much now that I'm domestically settled with my guy but there were plenty of times my dog acted as my sounding board during a bad breakup. :)

My mom would love that macrame divider. I, however, LOVE mismatched chairs. My dining table is long and I purposely have chairs that don't match. Love the lighting too and all those natural elements used here.

Wow! Minimalist vs collector. Love it. Love the way you were able to display all the things you collected. Cozy. Bright. Love the cabin feel of wood. Terrific use of only 900 sq ft of space.

I'm a beginner gardener in that I've only been gardening since 2009 and I couldn't possibly list all the mistakes I've made since starting out. I've killed more stuff than most gardeners I bet. And to all those people who say such and such plants are sooooo easy to grow, I say Pffffft, with a capital P. Not for me, I feel sad for all the poor plants that didn't make it for one reason or another, too much water, not enough, wrong growing conditions, etc. But I've learned a great deal so I appreciate sites like this one! I'm just now wandering over to each and every link to other blogs. Love the various garden pics, too.

PS -- to those living in Texas and the drought. I live in SoCal and we've had drought conditions here for years. It's a challenge to grow anything under those conditions.

I absolutely ADORE your kitchen!! And your antique pieces simply make the entire apartment pop with a certain amount of nostalgia. And the windows, I might possibly kill for that kind of light in my bathroom! What a wonderful home!!!

At first glance I'm thinking this would look great in my guest bath but now I'm reconsidering making it for my own. And my mom wants one too. I already have the barn wood left over from another project. In fact, was wondering how to put it to good use. What a terrific DIY post Thanks!

I agree with leftofcentergirl. If more people let go and just... played, more would be happier. My playground is the ocean. Surfing. You couldn't imagine how often I'm criticized for taking the time to surf. I've even had people ask me how can I surf in the ocean. It's so dirty! Well, if more people didn't trash the environment it might not be so dirty. :P

Anyway, way to get creative, Kevin!!!

I re-use jars for everything! Never had a problem with the lids either, suggest using baking soda to scrub them. I also use mine for on the go coffee containers and for all kinds of storage. I used them for holding candles at an outdoor party and had a couple of guests who acted as though they needed to run out and buy me fancy candle holders so I wouldn't embarrass myself but I just laughed them off. I love the retro look these old glass jars bring. They often remind me of my grandmother. And THAT is a great memory.

Great idea, but as Slowpoke pointed out, what about drainage? I'm rather a new gardener and have learned firsthand that the success to growing anything is following a simple, common sense approach to matching the perfect growing environment to the plant you're trying to grow. So, the drainage question is pertinent. Putting a layer of small pebbles in the bottom of each jar might do the trick though.
