That image is priceless. It made me feel like my current keyboard set up -which I would give a sanitation rating of a "C" really isn't all too bad. Love that he or she has sprudel & gin and what looks like a foil wrapped baked potato. My question is what is this person so intently writing?

Curious to hear if the poster or anyone got a response from Room & Board. We have the exact same couch with the exact same problem. I've been trying to balance the wear by sitting on different sides but in reality the couch should hold up better. What did the store have to say?

yes, dreamy merch abounds... but for non-NY'ers their website is quite limited and never seems to have the items that are featured in places like AT or formerly Domino. I've even tried calling about pieces and the experience was Kafka-esque at best. What about HABITAT! Now that's a UK company that I would LOVE to see set up shop Stateside. Great design, solid quality and much more user friendly.

Thanks for all of the creative suggestions. We haven't moved in yet so it's a bit of a clean slate... and these posts have expanded our ideas. The chain link is def. on the way out. And hopefully we can find an affordable alternative to the wobbly screen and sliding door to the right. We haven't selected a wood floor yet but are hoping to find a medium honey brown color that will work on a slab foundation. For the fireplace -we're double-checking but I think you have to have approx. 18inch of non-flammable material in the front. Right now we are leaning toward slate or something similar because as curtis notes it's "natural and potentially kind of colorful and variegated but still modern." And ideally, it will anchor the space a bit more than plain white walls.
