I'm pretty positive I checked this out in the West Elm outlet when looking for a piece for our foyer. The quality is not great -- as the first poster said, not much better than Ikea. The white finish is really easily scuffed and marred and I wasn't impressed at all. The chocolate veneer is similar to the Ikea "black brown" color. I had hoped it would be richer.

I have great luck with a paste of Borax and water for eliminating mold and hard water stains from my grout. I also spray the grout with a 50/50 vinegar and water solution after showering and make sure to keep the curtain open and vent fan on to allow it to dry out.

I'd recommend removing the existing caulk and recaulking as well.

Very cute! The ceiling is the perfect touch.

Griffin, I believe the shelves are painted Ikea spice racks.

The plastic liner and spout are recyclable in LDPE/soft plastic recycling -- if your city doesn't collect that you can take it into most grocery retailers for recycling with plastic bags.

I like Better Than Bouillon No-Chicken base and Rapunzel low-sodium vegetable bouillon cubes. I make my own dashi, however, since I've never found a storebought bouillon that works well in Asian dishes.

I get this error on my iPhone but only in my car, and I've switched out the USB chargers and it doesn't make a difference. My husband's iPhone and both our iPods all charge in the car just fine. I've been operating on the assumption that the solution is probably more money and trouble than it's worth...any insight?

Agreed. I don't want to even touch pallets at work, much less have them in my house.

We really like these for sports! They're good alternatives on bike rides or runs, though they don't provide quite the boost of energy as nutrition gels.

Earth Balance shortening, buttery sticks and spread are great vegan substitutes. For heavy cream, MimiCreme (found in an aspetic package) is excellent. They also make a whipped topping.

Try the Command picture hanging strips -- they're velcro-style but they won't ruin your walls! I used them in college to hang tons of stuff from my walls and even ceiling and nothing ever fell down.

We made three bins just like this and they work great! The best part is that all the organic matter breaks down very quickly due to heat build up, and it's been gloriously pest-proof (so far).

It scares me that as a kid I used to adore that smell... Fortunately I haven't used dryer sheets for years now. I put vinegar in my rinse cycle and it helps so much to soften and eliminate static! I also like the Static Eliminator reusable dryer sheets, they're awesome at collecting pet hair and lint too. I tried dryer balls but wasn't really impressed; I hear you need 6-8 rather than 2 to get the most benefit.

Love absolutely everything about this! We've been contemplating Flor tiles in our home too so I'm happy to see them executed so nicely.

I love this! The colors are so cheerful and I really love that you chose a bright yellow.

Thanks for the tip on Tape Seal -- I'm glad to see that it worked on your orange peel texture... our Austin house has the same texture (ugh) and I'm excited to try it for the next painting project!

Oh, I love these! I really want to order ones with our dog on them. My parents strictly reinforced hand-written thank-you notes growing up (we were always aware that we were at risk of having our parents tell the gift-giver not to send gifts because we didn't appreciate it). I am a stickler for hand-written notes to this day and will definitely have my kids continue the tradition. I always have quality note cards and stationery stashed for when I should need it.

We are in the process of preparing our dog for our baby's arrival. With the help of a plan devised by our trainer we are acclimating her to the unfamiliar sights (strollers, car seats, bouncers, silhouettes of baby-wearing gear), sounds (recordings of different baby noises, from laughing to screaming) and smells (the baby products that we plan to use).

We have a baby doll that we practice carrying in our arms and car seat and wearing in the Moby, and are reinforcing polite behavior around it. Dogs love to investigate anything you are carrying so it's important to get a handle on any problem jumping ahead of time!

We are also making sure to acclimate her ahead of time to the new routine (nursery off-limits, smaller section of the car) and teach new behaviors that will help promote harmony with a baby in the house (reintroducing the crate for a safe spot to escape, getting a handle on door-rushing behavior, and changing up our exuberant play style and encouraging more "brain games" with puzzles, treat-dispensing toys, and homemade agility equipment.

Creating positive associations with all things baby is so important, especially for dogs with some anxiety issues (like ours -- she had to overcome a lot of hesitation about all the new baby gear, and especially baby sounds since she hasn't been around babies before).

I like Pure Ayre. It's food-grade and safe for people and pets. I actually found it at Petco recently (they have versions marketed for pets and babies as well but honestly I can't tell if there's a difference between the regular one!).
