Depending on the size and shape of the living room and your diy capabilities would building a murphy bed be an option? It would allow you to both have a decently sized, truly separate and private sleeping space as well as maximize your options for mattress sizes. If you plan to have overnight guests with nay osrt of semi-regular freqyency I can promise you twin bed will get old very fast. While they do allow you more floor space for other things it is just not worth it when two people are squeezed into such a small bed and that's coming from me, a already yeeny tiny barely five foot tall gal.

Someone else suggets a loft bed, which is a decent idea. However, for one, most lofts are twin sized. And again if you are going to have overnight guests lofted beds can be kind of a nightmare. Not to mention scaling a ladder in the dark when you are tired or drunk is not exciting or fun, trust me from experience. You also need to factor in your ceiling height. My loft bed was a bit taller than normal and we had a pitched roof. Even with my head situated at the tallest part of the ceiling, I had to be careful not to hit my head. As you can imagine it created other problems in the overnight guest arena.

If it were me, I would have probably kept the original look. Maybe refinsihed witha different stain but kept with a natural wood look. Just my personal preference. the after is cute and well done, though. Still, I think it'd be better if they'd stuck to two colors. Or if they'd kept the light blue strictly as the outer color. I find the order of the drawers and their color combos as they are busy look in a bady way. There's no sense behind it. Maybe if the white and gray drawer were swapped with the light and dark blue drawer?

Speaking of Penske! The BF and I just did a move that crossed multiple states and over 650 miles and we used a Penske truck to do it. They were great people to work with. I originally checked quotes on U-haul, Budget, and Penske and found Budget to be the cheapest when taking advantage of online coupon codes, so I booked with them. Then a rep from Penske called me personally to inquire why I did not complete a reservation with them and to let me know they had some promotions they could potentially offer me. We gave them a call back, told them what we booked with Budget and at what price and asked them if they could do better. They could. We got the same 16 ft truck for four days, an appliance dolly for $5 instead of $30, and unlimited miles instead of 777. After taxes and everything we saved about $50 going with Penske. The unlimited miles aspect ended up being invaluable. They also gave us a free package of rope when we went to pick the truck up, because we had to wait (less than 5 minutes!) for them to finish washing it before bringing it out! The truck they gave us was a 2011 with only 37K miles on it, had a nice stereo/cd player/ipod jack built in and averaged nearly 11 MPG throughout the trip! Considering we loaded the truck to the brim, ran the stereo and ac almost entire time and were in 80+ heat, I was thrilled with that kind of fuel economy. The one and only annoyance with the truck was that it was limited to no more than 75 MPH. Kind of a bummer when parts of KY that we drove through had a 70 MPH speed limit and most people seemed to be doing 80. Cruise control also would have been nice, but all in all I was still really impressed with the experience and would recommend them to anyone.

I'm a 23/f and I scored an 8. If I had taken a bit longer to do the test I might have been able to eek out a slightly better score. My problem area was the teals. Not surprising, since that's definitely where I struggled the most when sorting.

I love everything but the color of the floor. It reads as too blue for my tastes, but that's just personal preference.

Something that has helped me on hot summer vacations is keeping a bottle of aloe vera gel in the fridge. Then when you apply it, it feels super cool and refreshing with the bonus of giving your skin much needed hydration after being in the sun. You can do this with any lotion, really but I find aloe vera just feels more refreshing and I like to keep things as natural as possible.

STH, I don't think gourmet cheese, figs, and coconut water qualify as junk food. And sure, you might not be interested in all these amenities but the kind of woman Tom hopes to get with (and let's face it, Tom, himself) IS.

While the stylings are cute I've got to agree with DEWEYDEFEATSTRUMAN96. The boyfriend and I custom built our own entertainment center and desk (both over six feet long) out of REAL wood for $60 and $80 respectively using ordinary tools we already owned and a very basic knowledge of carpentry.

I love coin banks! Last year, the boyfriend and I saved around $300 in pocket change. We use a hollow plastic dinosaur that I've had for years. I believe it may have once been a to be lawn ornament. Here's a picture: http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lf5rf6RlWH1qfsxp9o1_r1_500.jpg

I love the wood, as is. I think it is a gorgeous touch of rustic to balance the damask of the curtain. I also think white painted wood is very in fashion right now, and thus won't look "vintage" at all, instead trendy and unoriginal. I think sometime this decade the paint all wood semi-gloss white trend is going to dye and then you'll be stuck wanting to redo everything again. So my vote is keep the wood au natural, and paint the trim white and the walls a navy color like BM's "racoon fur".

While the midway and afters are definitely more my usual style I think I might fall into the "would've kept the wood" cult with this one. It looks like it was in such nice condition. I think switching out the countertop, backsplash and wall paint, flooring, and putting on different hardware would've gone a long way to making it seem less orange and more "warm" and made the cabinets the real highlight of the room. The after is certainly pretty and an improvement but at the end of the day, not much to write home about design-wise, I think.

This is another conveniently timed AT post for me. In preparing to move into a small apartment soon I as once again faced with the trash bag full of old band t-shirts I'd collected during my teens. Obviously they have sentimental value for me, but some also have great designs/artwork, some are for bands that aren't together anymore. So, I'm finally making them into a blanket/throw for me to use in the living when I'm constantly cold and the boyfriend feels fine. Luckily most of them are colorful and will fit right into our quirky, eclectic, neutrals & jewel tones aesthetic.

This is something I was just thinking about today as the boyfriend and I had been planning on moving in to a new apartment on the 1st, but now its looking like it will be the 15th instead. I was really looking forward to decorating our first apartment together, just the two of us. But now I'm not sure I'll bother with a whole tree, if it'll only be up for two weeks (especially since I'll be out of town for one of those weeks). And I definitely don't want to put one up now and then have to tear it down and re-do it for the move. So, I'll probably just do some stockings or other small decor once we move. Or, I might buy one of those adorable Charlie Brown Christmas trees, instead of a full one!
