I once attended a Glenlivet scotch tasting conducted by the head person in charge of distilling (he wore a kilt and everything). I remember him explaining how adding just a few drops of bottled water opens up the aromas... we even tried one perfectly neat versus with a little water side by side to compare & it really works (I just can't remember why)! Also, if you want to try (bourbon) whiskey in a cocktail but don't like it too sweet, try asking for a manhattan "perfect" (sweet & dry vermouth) or "dry" (dry vermouth only). What's up homemade pizza makers... me too! Local market had asparagus on sale (99 cents a pound!) so tonight I sliced it thin & put it on top with a little mozzarella & slivered garlic. I also cracked a couple eggs right on top & when it came out of the oven, it also got a generous sprinkling of arugula dressed with lemon & olive oil & red pepper flakes. Yum! It was like spring on a plate... I must be yearning for warmer weather. Tomorrow for SB we'll be making turkey & 3 bean chili with cornbread. What's Cooking This Weekend? I made this yesterday while 6 inches snow fell in my neighborhood... comforting & delicious! Instead of water I used chicken stock for extra flavor & also threw a parmesan rind in with the liquid.
