We have ivy..mostly Virginia Creeper. It is pretty but a pain. I hate it and would love to get rid of it. That is easyer said than done. Ivy-Covered Houses: Magical or Malicious? |

I liked many elements of the room...but the cork tiles would drive me crazy. They really should have been applied better. That I don't understand. I love this team and understand why hgtv would like to show how this downtown hipster look can translate to a suburb basement. My kids nursery has taken on many many renovations over the years. First the nursery I brought my kirst son home to. Then he moved out to a big boy room down the hall to make room for his little brother. That little baby got bigger and it became his big boy room. Now they are 7 and 9 and in that same old room together. This fall, when we put up the bunk beds I painted that room for the first time since I had painted it pregnant with my first child. While it really needed to be repainted, it was sad to roll over the smuggy hand prints where the crib once stood or take out the babyish rug that I had never been able to get rid of (until the 9 year old demanded it). It is funny how attached you get to a room. I spent so many night up nursing in that room or playing tummy time with a baby on that rug. But today my two boys made a fort in the same room with the bunk beds and they are asleep in that fort curled up together. So I guess that room has some new memories to create. I have a 1902 house that all the wood has been stained back to its original beauty. My hubby loves it. But if it would not cause a huge problem with my hubby, I would paint it ALL white! Most people in my hood think I am crazy. They are all in the process of restoring their wood. But I love white painted wood. So I would paint. Paint Or Stain Wood In 1917 Home? Good Questions |

ruthie144, i think the parents used a convertable car seat that goes from infant to bigger child as the car seat rather than get a baby bucket car seat and then buy a new seat for each stage. I don't think they are saying they went without a car seat. I was really confused by this too but I think that is what they ment. The Number One Item Readers Thought They Needed But Didn't |

I was also thinking that 30 years ago I would have been 10 and I don't remember it looking like the photo used for this article. Maybe I am older than I think. We played outside, played nintendo, watched tv and went to the mall. My kids play outside, play wii, watch tv and try to avoid shopping (but they are boys so that might be why). I would say it is very much the same. I do put restrictions on the computer and the wii and they have never been too big on tv...too old school for them I think. 10 Ways Kids Entertained Themselves 30 Years Ago Kid Crave |

I had a rocker, a glider and a changing table. LOVED the changing table. I am tall and it saved my back. Never used the rocker and the glider made me feel a little sea sick so did not use it much. We also have an "antique" house (love that) built in 1902 that have very little closet space. Our boys share a room without a closet and we have used metal shelves with big cloth baskets on them. They have very little to hang (boys) but we do have hooks on the back of their door. Not too original, but it has worked well for us. Storage Solutions for Rooms Without Closets |

late to the game here. I have a 110 year old house. We do have central ac and new heat. The ac was a deal breaker for my hubby. The family across the street has no ac but they are ok in the midwest. Our old homes are designed for cross ventalation and have sleeping pourches. Now rats and bugs could be a deal breaker for me. We had a mouse once and I went to war. That being said, around here many new construstion subdivisions have huge mouse/bug issues because they were put up in old corn field and have displaced the homes of all the field animals. I have friends in a new home who had so many mice they got into her car and ate the straps on her kid's car seat. So I think there can be issues in any type of house. I love my old house and tend to go for old house charm over new construction but some days I am ready to give it all up for a huge bathroom. Comfort or Looks? |

I think if you like the table now and it is a loving gift from you parents you will love the table forever even if your style changes. FOr some people, sometimes love has little to do with the look of something in the long term. Is This Dining Table A Forever Piece? Good Questions |

I have a glass front door and also love number one. I don't like to put anything on my door in the summer but in the winter I do need something for the weather and a roman shade would work well so I could put it up on warmer days. Curtains, Drapes and Blinds for a Glass Front Door |

We got the green. They were a HUGE mess. My kids are even older (6 and 9) and they had a hard time with the wand, the bubbles did not work very well, and my front steps will forever be green. I say run far far way from these. Not a good product at all. Colored Bubbles: Too Good To Be True? |

The last three are funny but the dino one is not funny. I don't think I want to teach my child that it is a good joke to make fun of a way a person looks (or in this case for one dino to make fun of another dino due to the number of horns it has).
