I had a friend recently call me and ask "is it okay for me to put a papasan chair in my livingroom?" and my answer was "no." They are unattractive AND can be dangerous. I toppled over in mine as a child way too many times. You might as well buy a white wicker bedroom set and call it a day.

My father was a Swedish architect with a passion for furniture. When my parents married they had an AMAZING apartment full of Danish modern pieces. Then the 80's hit and my mom replaced it all with white lacquer, gold and paintings of cats. So like you, all I have are old, yellowed photos and tears.

Don't do all white. A piece this neutral really need some punch, like dark woods or bright primary colors. The shape is also pretty neutral, but I wouldn't go too modern. It's a really nice piece but unless you live in a Nantucket beach house, paint the walls! (a pale gray would be nice)

First off, I think if this was a real apartment, Luke would have commented by now. Secondly, there are THOUSANDS of apartments this small in NYC! The doors across from the sofa are probably pocket doors that open to a tiny closet. Since there in a built closet next to the entrance door, this space is probably used to house the tv and hide the hotplate. Shared bathrooms do not make a rental NOT an apartment. If he pays, lives and sleeps it's an apartment. Even if it is fake.

It takes this guy almost 21 hours to build a bookshelf? I've seen buildings go up faster than that. $650 seems too high to me for such a simple design.

The color of the brick, the size and the storage reminds me of the army barracks I used to stay in while visiting an ex-boyfriend. I could never do it. Congrats on your perseverance!

It's nice, but most of the style comes from the architecture, not the decorating. And I don't understand why the Murphy bed if you have a separate bedroom area with nothing else in it?

I have that same lounge chair but in a tweedy beige. Your's kicks mine's ass! I love the sofa too.
