a few weeks ago i realized going through and taking out 10-15 items at a time just wasn't working. i took everything out of my closet, laid it out all over my apartment. first round, i only put back the pieces where i would cry if i lost or ruined them (my literal criteria as i looked at each item). then i filled in basics that i like and wear often (mostly neutral pieces like jeans and tops) that form nice outfits with my cannot-part-with items. almost everything else went. i made sure i had about 5 items in each category. I also focused on the fact that I *could* keep say, all my dresses, but by trying to wear them all I wasn't really enjoying my favorite pieces. i'm also moving in May and have no desire to spend money on moving excessive amounts of stuff. also, i sell my clothes on the Poshmark app and do pretty well on it, so it's easy to part with my clothes!
