I love when homes have themes (represented here by both the darker materials and the almost solemn presence of animals in each room). That being said, this home reminds me of my recent visit to the Museum of Natural History. :)

Last year, a neighbor of mine hung a small handful of red heart-shaped Christmas baubles on the tree in her front yard. For me, it struck a nice balance between festive and quiet. (I imagine the longevity of this would depend on the neighborhood, though.)
