North America includes Mexico and Central America.There are anteaters in Mexico and Central America. Based on the coloring, that appears to be the common pheasant, also found in North America. Axis are non-native, but after being introduced in Hawaii in 1860, where they have no natural predators, it's estimated that the herd is increasing in number 20-30 percent a year. Also, love the remodel. I was looking at a similar backsplash for my dream kitchen, and the budget you stuck to is truly inspiring.

I have sooo much artwork - but even though I will always buy another beautiful piece whether or not I have the space, I usually live somewhere awhile before I decide where to hang it.Otherwise I end up moving it all around four or five times like pyrexmaniac.

Oh come on people - don't be so negative. While I am guessing that most of these places belong to people who have a little more expendable income than I do, even poor students can have style. My husband and I are both in graduate school and we have kids, but I like to think that our space is quite nice for what it. I find that with patient saving and thrifting, and a whole lot of editing, I can make our space look inviting rather than cheap. It doesn't look as good as these places, but I come to APT for inspiration, not a shopping list.

Steam cleaning!!! And rugs. I have the same problem....and don't even get me started on old nasty laminate which for some reason landlords are deeply attached to even when you offer to pay for the change yourself...

I miss Ann Arbor! But it is great to see some classic A2 on apartment therapy. You have a lovely and unique home.

My sister is an artist too, and the moment I saw your space I was struck by the resemblances, although of course she is in one room, not this cool big place. Every surface is painted or decoupaged, so its like walking into a piece of art. Anyway, all that to say your home is really beautiful.

Wow that is a cool looking office space now! And for once, the fun isn't miles and miles away from me...maybe I can go to one of the upholstery workshops in this awesome studio.

I love your blog. And, I also struggle with DIY in a small space, but I think I would just give up if it weren't for seeing the INCREDIBLE things you do in an even smaller space than mine!

I love "Life in the Fun Lane"! I've followed the blog for a long time. And I also love seeing wasted spaces put to good use. So many people might never realize they had all that extra space beneath the sloped roof. Sometimes you don't need to buy bigger, you just need to be smarter. Unfortunately, it only took about a week to discover every nook and cranny in my small rental.
