There are certain areas where I will not spend a ton of money in the home...things like sofa pillows, side chairs(no one really uses them except guests for short periods) and certain storage items for items in this category I am not particularly concerned with quality and will spend the least amount possible to achieve the look I want.

Things I never never skimp on in terms of quality and will spare no expense on are mattresses, bed and bath linens, living room sofa, and rugs.

One thing I do think people should be aware of is that a high price tag is no indication of quality. I have shopped at IKEA enough to know that some of there items are surprisingly high quality for the price. The reverse is also true, I have seen an obscenely expensive sideboard in a store that shall remain nameless and when I opened the draw to inspect it I was shocked by the shoddy craftsmanship. The key is to know what to look for in terms of quality (which would make a good topic AT)...Once you know what to look for the price tag becomes largely irrelevant.

I second or third the coffin comment....this "bed" from the name to the design is a disaster... I bet this is some kind of AT joke

I have no problem with the dead animals but I do wonder why people stop with animals...why not taxidermize (is that a word) and mount the heads of loved ones that have passed on? Other than the possible social stigma I would think one would rather gaze upon Dad's wise countenance hanging on the wall than some Bambi you shot between the eyes on a hunting trip no?

All are lovely...Slangevar, I can't imagine that a guest in someone's home would be engaging in "funny business"...

Why not just find a dresser big enough for your needs on craigslist and refinish it yourself with a metallic paint? Alternatively, if you are not too considered with quality you could put together 2 or 3 ikea low dressers ( i forget what they are called but they're really cheap) and refinish them with metallic paint. I would go the craigslist route personally.

I guess they look nice but I doubt that it is actually practical. We live in a Blackberry and iPhone world and its just easier to schedule and be scheduled by others using electronic means...I suppose something like this could be useful to a stay at home parent to organize activities and such.

How To... Make This Chalkboard Wall Calendar

The walls are white...it gives the impression of a blank canvas which would be ok except for the small picture you have hanging on the wall. That picture is too small and out of proportion giving the area an "incomplete" look. If possible, I would move the TV to the corner area between the wall with the shelves and the wall with the small pic. Then I would put the two armchairs directly on the other side of the coffee table facing the sofa and not on an angle. I would remove the small pic. The wall behind the chairs will still be blank but the focus will be drawn to the corner as opposed to staring straight ahead to that wall so the bareness should not be as much of a problem.

Another option that would fit in your budget would be to paint the wall or if you're renting use the removable grasscloth wallpaper made by sherwin williams to add texture and interest to that one wall.

I'm not liking this at all....unless your dinner is taking place in an English country home, this table decor just comes off as ridiculously pretentious...laughably so...

What I love: Sofa, Chair and Table in Living Room. Desk in the office is gor-geous. I also like the bedroom very crisp and nice but perhaps a bit too matchy for my taste...perhaps you could have played around with different shades of brown and white. Nevertheless it looks very crisp and classic.

Things I strongly dislike: Curtains in the living room the color reminds me of blue suede shoes...not in a good way. The brass curtain hardware just too 80's for me...also, not in a good way. Too many knick-knacks for my taste and finally the houndstooth rug in the living room. I understand you have the houndstooth pillows on the sofa but in my opinion, it just distracts from the beautiful sofa and chair.

It appears that all they did was take out the Pews and the Pulpit and refinished the floors and painted the walls white...oh yeah and put in those tacky screens...LOL@conversion.

I could never live there. The sacredness of the place would be too burdensome for me to ever feel truly comfortable. Can you imagine sipping on Belvedere while enjoying the greatest hits of 50 cent in there??? Can somebody say Guilt City???
