Seriously, another pennant hanging from the crib? This is getting ridiculous. Please- it's not ok to hang a ROPE from a crib. Baby pulls the slack through the slats just enough to get a head inside. Or it gets twisted around an arm and cuts off circulation. They can't figure that stuff out. And I'm actually not really an alarmist but this trend bothers me. Cribs are safe when there is nothing else around. Once you start dangling things within reach, all bets are off. AT, safety really needs to trump style and design here. The pennant is definitely a no-no on the crib, I actually said ACK! out loud when I saw it there. And while I like the aesthetic choices in the room, the idea of little fingers in the bird cage wire makes me cringe. Babies are clever, curious, and so smart, but they have no judgement. Mason jars already make up a significant portion of our functionally-eclectic-by-accident collection of glassware. I like this. Cuppow: Canning Jar Into a Travel Mug |

One side against the wall and a temporary mesh rail or even a bolster pillow keeps kids from falling out of bed when they first move up (unless you have a flailer, then they manage to fall out of bed no matter what). Eventually they no longer need the barrier. . Color Inspiration: Gray + Red |

We have twins. The bedroom became a Bed. Room. nothing else. No night tables to bonk a mouth or head, no lamps, no bookcases, only soft, low, user friendly items. We had a high dresser with one unreachable lamp. Other than that, throughout the house there was nothing below our waists, as it were, for the better part of a year, plus a couple of strategic gates. Then they chewed on shoes and books like puppies so everything went away. It seemed like a big deal at first, but it was way better than the stress of constant vigilance. Over time things went back on the shelves. It's a distant memory, and they're only 4, but NOW I have way more to worry about. They have creative minds, make some questionable choices, and have a partner in crime. Good luck! Babyproofing Solutions for Lamps Good Questions |

That's a great looking idea, but I think the reality of how kids actually play with legos would soon supersede the original cool design concept. If its not meant for kids, but playful adults, then rock on! Look! LEGO Walls |

A few new things that become well used and loved are great, but geez, there is SO much stuff out there, and you use it for your own kid for SUCH a short time. It's hard to tell a first time mom they won't use half of the new things for various reasons. Hopefully more people will carry the sustainability mindset through the baby stage. It doesn't mean you can't buy a cute new dress or just the right pair of shoes, but my kids now see 'new to them' the same as brand new, and are just as happy. Secondhand Baby Shower |

Using or repurposing other people's perfectly good cast offs can be a necessity, a hearty challenge, or just a simple pleasure. I have always been thrifty out of necessity, and I enjoy 'discovering' something of value to me. As far as food goes, SO much goes to waste, and dumpster divers are just the ones willing to scrape a bit of gunk off of something that doesn't look or smell perfect in order to use it. More power to 'em. I don't regularly dumpster dive, but recently cooked some tiny golden potatoes a friend had found in sealed packages in a dumpster. They were delicious and my kids devoured them. I have twin 4 year olds whose favorite pastime is to change costumes on an hourly basis. Needless to say we have LOTS of costumes. I like the catch-all bin underneath for shoes and hats, but hangers are impractical, I agree. I'm working on a system with lots of hooks, but still need to figure out how to store the purses, scarves and swords :-) Clever, DIY Storage for Dress Up Clothes |

YUP, just met my dream come true. Perfect mix of light, hand-me-downs, bricks and warm wood, functional items, lovely hand-mades, collections obviously close to the heart and not just acquired to decorate, plants, quirky industrial, cozy and LIVED in. Just too many adjectives come to mind. When the baby outgrows the swing, might I suggest circus grade gymnastic rings! We have some in our home and they get lots of use by kids and adults-and our space is a fraction of yours. Joel & McKenzie's Salvaged Live/Work Loft House Tour |

While I love this sweet room, this comment has been brewing inside me for some time as I amble through stunning Ohdeedoh posts. The reality of living every day with little ones means heavy wear and tear on furniture, toys, books and especially rugs. I can't help but chuckle/sigh at the inevitability of having to clean that very impractical rug on a regular basis from even the tiniest amounts of spit up or residue from a diaper blowout. Our adult design sensibilities become impractical at some point, though it sure is nice to gaze at picture perfect rooms and imagine how we could improve our own living spaces.
